I like the way Firefox looks, now. I'm not tech-savvy in the least, and I like my computer experiences to be as easy and streamlined as can be, so all I can say is that I like this new Firefox. Some may argue it looks like a Chrome rip-off, but that doesn't affect me all that much, since I already liked Chrome to begin with, and it still has enough unique features that make it look different from Chrome, in my book.

It's also a whole lot faster, for me, which is most definitely a plus.

Faster as in "faster than it was before", definitely still not as fast as Chrome.

As someone that currently runs 200+ tabs, this is really the only post in this thread, that makes me concerned about the new update. I hope there is a way to customize that, because i'd hate the overlapping of tabs.

I don't find it confusing. Plus, Firefox has an option you can check so it only loads the current site you're on when you open the browser.

JFYI, the ESR version is at 24 and they'll stay with that probably till the end of this year, but you still get security updates. The current one is 24.5

It's the same for me. But then I think that I'm particularly insensitive to bad graphical design.

The problem is that with every version after the journey to Australis stable started, they're taking out functionality; the number of add-ons you now need for things that worked natively before increases with every new version, and with all the code that is being taken out it's sometimes not even possible - for example, I hate tabs on top, but the about:config hack to disable it doesn't work anymore. I always regarded add-ons, about:config (i.e. prefs.js and user.js) and the userChrome and userContent files as means to enhance functionality and to customise the browser to the usability and looks that suit me the best, but a lot is negatively changing, like the dropping of the chrome folder in your profile a good number of versions ago.
Not to mention that the add-ons update function behaves in a broken way - I prefer to manually check and then decide to download and install them, but it doesn't work like this anymore.

I got tired of spending time and energy trying to restore things that they took out and moved away from native Firefox around v.14 or v.15 (don't remember the exact version), made Pale Moon my default browser (with the majority of my add-ons being security/ privacy related) and never looked back. Not only that, but I have also moved family members and friends over to Pale Moon because, imho, it's currently the best Gecko based browser for Windows users.

And this comes from a once hardcore fan of Firefox - once, when Firefox used to be the browser of choice for folks that enjoyed to fiddle with its settings and functionality; now it has become more suited for the average user that either doesn't know or doesn't care to bother with such stuff. Sadly, as others have said, Mozilla has chosen to go forth with this transition with Firefox as a poor Chrome rip-off/ wannabe that not only won't ever manage to convert Chrome users, but is also loosing fans to other Gecko based browsers.

Okay, I'm checking out Pale Moon now and I quite like it, but I have a question that I can't seem to find through a search. I'm hoping you can help on this one. This is probably something stupidly easy that I'm overlooking, but anyway...

in Firefox, I can have multiple tabs open and shut down the browser. When I start it again, it reopens all my tabs (saves them, in other words). I can't seem to figure out how to do this with Pale Moon. If I shut down PM with a bunch of tabs open I get a warning that I'm closing multiple tabs and when I start up the browser again, all my previously open tabs are gone. How do I tweak this?

I assume (I never use the restore session function) that you need to change the related setting in about:config - if you need help to do it, let me know and I'll guide you step by step.

Make sure that browser.startup.page value is set to 3, close and restart Pale Moon.

Give it a shot and report back if it worked.

Thanks very much for the reply, but this was all a result of me being stupid (as I surmised). The option is there under Tools->Options->General->When Pale Moon Starts. I just had to select 'Show my windows and tabs from last time'. So simple and really not hard to find. Ye gods, I sometimes wonder about myself. Thanks again for the help though. :)
