I don't know if anyone has posted this already, but...

There have been rumours floating around for a little while that Starbreeze (Riddick, The Darkness) are working on a Syndicate sequel or remake.

If this is the case, my bet is they are holding the originals back for a reason related to this.
Maybe they will release them nearer the time to generate hype or maybe to do a deal where you get them if you pre-order the new one (like Alice, Red Faction, Mafia, etc.).

That is my theory. What do you guys think?
My guess is legal licensing nightmare. Bullfrog probably licenced the ingame font from someone that subsequently died and they have to use an army of lawyers to track down whoever owns the font now

I agree with this, but I also believe it's just a matter of time :) Patience my friends! Patience!
I reckon I've just figured it out, Remember the billboards that played ads for Ghost In The Shell? I'll bet thats the stumbling block right there
It was said during the live announcement that GOG had to figure out rights issues for it and System Shock. They didn't go into more detail, but we can trust them to get the games here when they can.

I haven't played the game so this might not be possible, but couldn't they do a texture swap if that were the case?
Nah it was full video, it was something of a wow moment when you first saw it back in the day
Just like Guillaume stated during the conference, rights for both Syndicate and System Shock series are divided between couple companies and we need some time and work to deal with this.
Of course we'll do whatever we can to solve this and we hope to release those awesome classics sometime in the future. If we will, you'll know about it for sure.
I'm sure GOG will get the job done eventually. If they can prove their business model to EA they can probably prove it to anybody.
So the Swedes stand in the way? Somebody call Notch and have him send over an army of Creepers to Starbreeze. That ought to sort things out. ;)

Besides, if anyone were to handle a modern take on Syndicate, I for one wouldn't mind it being Mojang.

Does this apply to D&D crpgs made by SSI, or this is a lost case?

Btw, could you answer my PM, even in short words?

Tell us who do we have to kill to solve this problem and we will do it! Like, now! :D

I'm not sure it's a good idea to kill people in this case because the sucession procedure, which could include rights for these games, could take a long time too... :)
Apparently, the rights to System Shock 1/2 are at least partly owned by an insurance company. If GOG somehow makes a deal with them, it'll go down in frigging history. It'd be even crazier than their deal with Hasbro, which was weird when you think about it because they're first and foremost a toy company.

Apparently, SSI's games are now owned by Ubisoft, with which GOG has already signed (hence, for example, the Rayman rereleases). It'd just be a matter of getting them and Hasbro (owners of D&D) to come to an agreement.

Oh really?

This is common knowledge, I know what's the situation, I'm asking if there are any talks about it with Ubi, Atari and Hasbro, and if there's any view of success.

And you forgot that Atari has probably exclusive rights to sell D&D until 2017, so it's not just about the agreement between Ubi and Hasbro.

Plus, there's this legal issue between Hasbro and Atari.
