Why does GOG has swicht from the old Bookshelf Icons to the new round ones. In my opinion the old ones were much better. It would be cool if you could choose the icon that will be used.
Can you elaborate please? The icons on my game shelf are square.
Round ones? Where? What were you smoking, man? :P

He's talking about the new desktop icons with the 2.0.0 installers.
They might be referring to the short cuts, when you install the games. A few of them have "round" icons now for some reason. I don't see it as a big deal, but that's just my opinion.

ninja'd damnit! :P

Can you post some screenshots?
Oh OK.
I didn't mean the Icons in the bookshelf. The new one are the icons on your Desktop. The old Desktop icons where just the same as the icons in the bookshelf, but the new ones are round. I noticed that after I updated "Hotline Mimai". GOG has changed the Installer and also the icons.

I would attach two of the new icons so you can see what I mean, but I cant attach .ico files.

Here are just a few.
Can you post a screenshot with new icons?

Btw. I didn't really like the old box icons. They were too small.

edit, @up: thanks, man. For me, they look much better than the boxes. The boxes were so small you could barely see what they represent. And I use big icons. Big for Windows XP :P

Yeah, I have to say I like the new icons. More informative than the old ones.

Same, I never thought tall box art worked very well as a desktop icon. These fit a lot better.

You can attach any files you want providing it's small enough, you just need to change the extension.

The icons were actually generally stored in a gfw_high.ico file, which often contained a dozen or more individual icons. Which one is displayed is dependent on your desktop and/or folder settings. If you increased or decreased the icon size through the settings, you could get very different results. For HOMM3, for instance, there are two different sizes of shields and two different sizes of game boxes, several of which are repeated several times. For Giants, you've got four different sizes of boxes, and then three sizes of "grainy" boxes as well.

If you don't feel like changing your entire desktop setup, you can just extract the individual frame out of the icon file and make your own.

Off topic, but I can't find any "Chinese Chess" on GOG; is that from a different store, or what?
