Unless I'm missing something this seems like a silly post.
I can also download a large portion of the GOG catalog illegally and save lots of money and get all the bonuses, piracy is always cheaper and more convenient.
I still prefer legally owning things though.

Not that silly. Anno 2070 has two forms of DRM: UPlay and Tages activation. On Steam is even worse: you have to deal with Tages Activation DRM, Steam and UPlay. You also have limited activations. I like owning things legal, but that doesn't mean that i should accept to be treated poorly.

Anyway, for Anno 2070 i've voted with my wallet and chose not to buy it. I have the Anno 1404 + expansion, bought when they've patched the online activation out of it. So, i'm okay of not having the latest Anno.

what I was wondering more about was whether anno 2070 Steam version activates on UPlay. I did this with other UPlay titles (Far Cry 3, for example) and if so I was wondering about buying on Steam, as it is cheaper there for me, but only play it through UPlay (to skip that extra layer)

Big DRM list can frag itself for not being properly updated. Especially when the protection is clearly stated on the game's store page. Hope that the steam page is clear enough for you.

Sorry that i've got carried away, but seriously, why not check first hand ( aka the steam store page, as the steam usually is displaying the more hated protections ) and go to a third party list?!

Most Securom games have a 5 machine limit and no "1 month revoke". But some don't. See where I'm getting at? The fact that some "SolidShield DRM" games have a 5 machine activation and no mention of this 1 activation back after 30 days (as opposed to a 3 machine activation + 1 month revoke of "TAGES DRM") makes it hard for me to simply believe "both DRMs" work the same way.

So yeah, I'd like a little more than that. I've been trying to look this up myself, but no answers other than "oh, TAGES = SolidShield therefore it's all the same thing"
