Ebany: They promised X:Rebirth would have a No-Steam.exe by the end of a year, they lied ...... which reminds me, I gotto go leave a post on their forums ......
avatar
Pheace: Why bother? I've yet to hear a positive opinion about that game.
Loyalty. Been playing their games for more than a decade now, spent many good hours in those games and read lots of pages of forum material *sigh* memories. I rarely get involved though. Oddly I get along with everyone in RL but find my blunt nature isn't so well received on the Net :)

Same reason I've bought 3 Collectors editions of The Witcher 3 from EBGames, plus 1 on GoG ..... was considering getting one on Steam but .......

RudyLis: It's not worst game I ever played. Does this qualify?:)
Hope so cause I bought X:Rebirth. Just went and put a post on the Egosoft forums. Bastards sent me an email saying buy quick while the DLC is still free ....... I did, now I can't get the DLC without paying I see it's because they sent me the email 2 days too late. M'F'ers!

paladin181: It's really quite clear that some people assume they have rights that they don't, and while Steam, Valve and many others are shitty to take advantage of it, it's not illegal or exceptionally dishonest compared to some things out there.
avatar
Ebany: But quite often it is illegal, can't circumvent a countries laws with an EULA.

I think I made the example of refunds, which legally Steam must provide to Australian customers due to our strict consumer protection laws. They have not been doing this and now they're in the crapper because our Government is taking them to court.

3 weeks ago I got Steam to "unlink" a CD-Key from my account so I could put it on another, Steam put a 7 day trading bar on my account, but they did it. A few of months ago I'd have been lucky just to get a reply from their support Dept telling me to go F' myself, but then my Gov wasn't dragging them to court at that time.
*snip*
Great posts and some er "interesting" replies as per usual whenever someone mentions the dreaded "S" word :) You certainly handle vitriol in a very mature and calm manner.

Steam gave refunds before and I had my birthday present last year refunded as the game(Arkania remake) was in an unplayable state. It took a bit of back and forthing and nothing was done until I mentioned specifically that an EULA does not circumvent the law and threatened to take the matter further after quoting legislation.

PS - thanks for reminding me Ozbargain :)

Tarnicus: PS - thanks for reminding me Ozbargain :)
Love OzBargain, nice to have a site where we overcharged Aussies can share our secret fishing locations :)

In fact I just posted a game deal for The Cursed Crusade on Amazon, reduced from US$20 to US$1, can download DRM-Free from Amazon Digital Library & also redeem a key on Steam. Another gem found with Enhanced Steam add-on :)

Cheers for the conversation in the gaming deals thread re my inability to purchase from Amazon. Same address, same card, successful purchase! :)

Edit: direct download version added to account no worries...as for the Steam key - fucking region locked!

Hey, that's my part of the script!;)

Not blunt, but straightforward. Which isn't bad. Until other starts pointing fingers at you and say "you lack ampathy!".

Yeah, and I preordered it, hoping it'll be as great as predecessors. Music was. Game - not so much. :)
In theory they should've fix the campaign, so it should be passable now without any mumbo-jumbo, so tutorial doesn't really need its own tutorial. Gameplay mechanics worked, but mining and trading were FUBAR, apparently fixed now - at least now I see my traders working on their own, without controlling them individually, plus AI ships started to travel to my stations, and haul stuff.
Can't say much for freeplay, I do post-campaign saves mostly, but overall feeling (excluding early bugginess, and obvious gameplay/graphical changes) it's still X, maybe not as developed as X3 was, closer to earlier installments.

EA ever better, sent me an offer to buy DLC for a game they couldn't fix for several months. And left in that state, by the way.
Can't say much about quality of Teladi outpost, I'm still busy checking my stations' building progress as they weren't working before, so there are still few hours before I'll start trying this DLC.
Though pricing policy is... not quite adequate. Unless they keep price high to scare away casual players.

I saw from the responses to my post on Ozbargain, people weren't happy with me :(

I was going to give them a mouthful about how it works fine when ...... well Steam has been region locking stuff and I know that old vendors keys are slowly been replaced. I bought a 2nd copy and tried it on another Steam account, sure enough it was region locked so a person would need to be behind a VPN to activate on Steam.

I linked some extra bargains on there to make up for it though :)

Steam are selling games which won't run without Windows Live.

I activated a X:Rebirth CE gift I had in my inventory, comes with Teladi DLC included as it turns out. I was fuming so didn't mind wasting the money in exchange for adding another bad review to the already exceptionally long list, plus another to the DLC page. In the end I couldn't do it, felt immoral :/
