falster: Which is crazy ay? As ive only ever been to one place where they speak that ( hong kong) yet every other country ive ever been to speaks english, at varying levels.

A population thing i guess.....

I did, thanks. I'm glad folks got a kick out of it, it was fun to write. And I can freely admit that most games probably need to be translated into American English as well, particularly my Mid-Atlantic dialect.

American: "Commanda' Shephard suh, y'all gots that Krog'n gravy?"

We laugh best who can first laugh at ourselves. :)

i dont actually recall mentioning any languages at all, save for the one in the thread title.
i also dont remember stating that whatever language WAS spoken, was the EXCLUSIVE language of said location.......

i think youre just having a seperate discussion on something with yourself.

The post you were responding to was about Mandarin and you referred to Mandarin in your post (as "that").
Now you do have a point about the exclusivity, and that alone is enough for your post to make so I don't understand why you're pretending you weren't talking about Mandarin.

Because the market for games in other languages than English probably isn't big enough to make it worth the effort of trying the get the rights for any translated versions. Get over it.

I'm continually flabbergasted that British books are actually translated into American English for the American market. The US and the UK really are "two countries separated by a common language". I can read either variant of English without any problems, I'm surprised that native English speakers can't.

There are certain things that you have to bear in mind. For instance, British books are more likely to be written using the metric system, which is then translated into the imperial one for the sake of simple convenience. Then there are words like "pants", "hood" and "fanny" that mean different things altogether in both variants.

Thats because im not pretending, just stating fact and youre unwilling to accept that,. i think everybody can see i wasnt talking about it, i never even mentioned it, never even hinted at it.

i think its a simple case of you want every body else to be wrong and you to be right, or in this case me and you, as this has now derailed pointlessly a random thread.

Your determination to somehow win an argument on the internet is very entertaining, however i really dont want to be needlessly drawn into a pointless point scoring last word discussion. Sadly if it wasnt for the anonymity of the internet, the constant logic twisting and pointless argumentative nature of people would never get as far as it does.

think what you like its fine, i really couldnt care as i lost interest some time ago and wont be making the mistake again of posting in this thread.
