I want to know why there is obscure 1 and a whole ton of other games i've never heard of on this site but there is no max payne. The reason i ask is because number 1 was a terrific game with an awesome film noir feeling and an exellent story line and i have been on the lookout for number 2 since i played the demo because it was basically MP1 with better graphics more guns and a different storyline.

Meh, someone's gotta do it. I've given up on doing it if I find them, after I apparently got the last one wrong (according to the OP :P).
Because Rockstar owns the rights to Max Payne and as you have seen from GTA4, they probably don't support the DRM-Free policy.

Aw don't give up little buddy. :)
If they weren't regular occurrences I'd be polite and all, but as it stands I can't be arsed to post anything but links.

Still, it's an old game..no great reason not to. Not like its in shops everywhere now or anything. They've released the old GTA games free on their site...it's not impossible.

DRM wasn't really the issue with GTA4 was it? It was more a sloppy conversion coupled with the addition of the stupid social club "service"

It had install limits..(despite what Rockstar said).
But yeah..probably one of the worst games you could pick up on PC. Look at the requirements:
Initial activation requires internet connection; Online play requires log-in to Games for Windows - LIVE and Rockstar Games Social Club (13+ to register); requires disc in drive to play (unlimited installations); software installations required including Sony DADC SecuROM, Adobe Flash, DirectX, and Microsoft's .NET Framework, Games for Windows - LIVE, and Internet Explorer.

Yeah thats pretty messed up. Surprising considering the simplicity & quality of their prior PC releases.
Another good reason to have a PC AND a console I guess

Try "online shopping."
Ah, "Why not Max Payne?" - the philosophical question that we are all asking ourselves in these uncertain, tumultuous times.

Despite the numerous bloating programs and such, I still find GTA4 to be much, much better on PC than on Xbox, and that comes from someone who owned and played both for 50+ hours each.
On topic: They are on Steam for cheap... one assumes they will come here someday, either as GOG's size and user base grows, or as Rockstar softens up on DRM and the like. Maybe when Max Payne 3 releases they will be put on here for promotion.

I'd guess that the biggest stumbling block would be their stance on international distribution - on Steam, the Rockstar games are only available in a small handful of countries.
edit: incidentally, there's a Max Payne shout-out in the game Necrovision - during one of the many inappropriately straight-faced letters you find, the writer refers to "Max - dearest of all my friends."
