danteveli: In the book you dont really know what happened in the zone plus as far as I remember in the game you could see strange things happening. The area in game looked like abandoned poligon and forests in eastern Europe and for me it had the same vibe as story.
For me the game was trying to show the movie version.

Plus if the game was like novel it would be laying on the ground simulator.

For the Resident Evil movies crap take it as far away from games as possible. Storyline there is utter crap and Alice would be like 2nd worst RE character ever.
Movies storyline was ok(cliche and overdone zombie flick but ok), and Alice was awesome. Too overpowered to be a playable game character though at any rate.

Plus I like her actress. :P
Phelous has a series where he reviews all the RE movies.it pretty much shows the fans opinions about the movies.
but the only good RE movie is Degeneration

EC-: Seeing as how RE6 was announced and the fifth RE movie is on its way towards release, I got to thinking, "Why is Alice never used in the games?"
Because this character sucks. That's why. ;)
Makers of all Resident Evil movies (starring Jovovich) should die in PAIN.

RE fans can't give an un-biased review of RE films because of their prior playing of the games. Thus those should be used with a grain of salt.

I agree the review may be funny(didn't watch yet will later) but c'mon the movies don't have to be like the games to be good right? Plus they could always make films or comics closer to the games later on. :)
The problem with RE movies is that first one was quite good. It had connection to games but there was their own idea with it. It was not good horror but action flick with zombies. Later the series went downhill and straight to the drain. They started taking elements from games and create their own stuff ( movies could have totaly different title and no one would notice). Rest of the RE movies is just bad not as ecranisation of game but as a movie with illogical plot weak matrix elements and actors that cant act. (Mike Epps ?)

But I think they should have more to do with the games to bear the same name. I have only seen the second film and it was truly abysmal. It felt as though someone had a rough script for a B-grade action movie that someone bought, gave the nameless characters some names they found on a game they played last week, stuck Nemesis in, and called it Resident Evil. I don't watch many B-grade action movies, but I don't mind them at all; it's the superficial connection to a game series that the movie should have nothing to do with that winds me up. If Nemesis was removed, some characters (namely Jill) given different clothing, the title changed to, say, Zombieville, I would say it would've been almost tolerable. Now I'm sorry to report that it was the most insulting waste of time I have had the misfortune to watch.

It's that superficiality of movies related to source materials & how it bugs you and others that is most likely the problem then, not the films. Still.....the films might be utter crap regardless in your eyes, but with that bias in your mind it's hard to tell isn't it?

IMO if they name something as your favorite series and then make it in a way you don't like them making it in you should view it based on it's own merits and not the fact that it went in such directions.....as long as the films is fun to watch then it's fun to watch....that's my two cents at least.

They went with their own ideas because I guess they were doing a reboot/rehash of the ideas of the game series and not a true to source material film. Which doesn't mean it's automatically bad, btw. ;)

I actually quite liked the films and am not too bothered if it sticks TOO close to the source material (or at all in some cases). Resident Evil in this area sticks for me simply because I feel like there isnt actually anything new to deliver or anything to really scare me anymore in a zombie film, hence why I dont mind the shift to action in this case.
The only problem is that the movies are bad. ideas in them are terrible. Some action scenes are ok but plot is total garbage and not in RE sense ( games have also terrible story) but objectively as a movie its like one big dump ripping off as much stuff as it is possible. REsident Evil from the 2nd one is like one big bad Grindhouse experiment thats not even funny. I'm not biggest fan of the games and direction they went with them but Alice shouldnt be in them because that character is total garbage lady version of Neo.

Plot? Who needs a good plot in an action flick? Especially a semi-cheesy one?

Also most plots have been used...there are only so many basic plots a movie can follow you know. ;)

And c'mon...what's not to like about a beutiful woman that kicks zombie ass? :D

Apart from the facts that most of the time the editing is so bad you can't possibly have a clue as to what's going on and that occasionally the sound recording equipment was either misplaced or missing altogether, nothing.
