Green Hilltop: Do you really have to kill them though? Or the devs just decided to make them hostile creatures on purpose? I really hate when they do that to otherwise non-hostile, benevolent creatures of lore.
Sorta. I mean, when presented with the opportunity to kill a unicorn, doesn't that opportunity automatically morph into an obligation? Because, well, you get to kill a unicorn!

Ok, I totally get the crystal unicorns thing and the enthusiasm about that but...

They must be. According to Deathspank, which is totally canon for everything, this is the case.

Unicorn legends came from exaggerated accounts from travellers who had seen rhinos. In lore they were wild and dangerous creatures that could only be calmed by resting their heads in the lap of a virgin maiden. At which point hunters would spring out and kill it.
