You're a very large and respectable company, why then windows UAC message reports that setup installers downloaded from your website are of "Unknown" publisher. You should get yourself a digital signature and sign your files.

The last thing you want to do here is talk about the installers. :D
Gog isn't that large a company, and as I understand the Digital Signatures process, it costs a fair amount of money....probably more than it's worth for the small monies they make off each game sold.....
If it costs any money at all it would be wasted, I'll just click ok one more time.

1300 dollars for 3 years, directly from Verisign. That is too much for GOG?

I'm not sure what you'd picture a lot of money, but when I was lasting building an installer, the cert was negligeable cost. Looking at the verisign page just now (very briefly) it looked like a 2 year certificate would cost £350.
Screw signing, and screw UAC.

That's for one exe file, or for all exe files from GOG?

Whatever you want it for. You buy the digital signature, not the signing of only one file. You can sign as many files as you want. :)

EDIT: I'm sure there are even cheaper DSs that you can buy.

This is not really a big issue, I was just bored.
I figured these exe signatures would make gog setup smoother while protecting files from viruses and corruption.

lukipela: It is 1300 spent with no actual return.
Yeah, as a developer I was really disgusted when I found out about signing. I refuse to participate in such a waste of time and money.
It is very overpriced, yea. :D
I rather GOG throw a party for their employees before they spend any money on me clicking on less time on ok ;)

UAC? You mean the thing I disabled immediately after I installed Windows? :) Yeah, waste of money for the signature imho, I'd rather have gog enjoy it how they want.

I ended up turning it off pretty quickly too, it was just an annoyance.
