Wizards and Warriors was pretty good once you got the hang of it, it became rather addictive. My friends found it hysterical because they started out in leather bikinis.

I remember playing an Oomphaz (elephant looking guy) as my main warrior, and I had hard time finding armor pieces that fitted him. That was part of the game and I enjoyed the challenge.

Played it a few years ago... got up to the second town and became stuck there because the gates were unclickable for some reason.

At first I thought you were talking about this game.
Then I was like, "Wait, there was a PC version of that game?"
I was somewhat disappointed to find out it was something else.

That said, those games do look up my alley for different reasons.

So far 'only' 288 people voted for it on the wishlist, plus the mobygames scores aren't only decent and the reviews mixed, so you can't automatically count on other customers liking it, too. Maybe that's why it's not top priority at the moment.

That looks like Bionic Commando with a fantasy make-over, especially the trees!

I checked again that particular gaming magazine and it was indeed Wizard and warriors (it was a late 2000 issue). They praised the story and the mechanics (although they would've prefered to control whenever the game is in pause in combat like Baldur's Gate) but they panned the graphics and production value. They said they felt cheated with something that should've come up a long time ago. They finally gave 3 stars out of 6.
