Heheh!

I think for Draco, he'd require this update (ironically from a woman about as old as JJ).

dracomage1996: It seems its becuase I offered 1.00 worth of steam cards on the classifieds. I just always to post on the classifieds with something, and trade, and I all I had were steam trading cards.
avatar
Fenixp: Didn't you know? The cards exist to spawn ultimate evil into the world, and if you are trading them, you are helping the evil develop!

Seriously tho, it's better not mentioning anything Steam does or participating in Steam's activities around here if you don't want to be attacked. GOG community is getting just as fanatical as that from Steam boards.
Automatically thought about SSCC or (Sakura Steam Card Captor)

Namur: Yes, i'm sure that in a thread with a fuckton of steam keys on offer for trade at any given time the problem was the connection to steam.
Because GOG community never derails and tries different things in various threads, right?
high rated

Fenixp: Because GOG community never derails and tries different things in various threads, right?
There are tons of threads with nothing but steam related activities in them, threads where steam related activites are the bulk of the thread's activities, people happily go about their forum activities on those threads as they always have, so where are you going wih this ? "Derails and tries different things in various threads" ? What does that even mean ?

Before accusing the gog community and its oh-so insiduous radicalism of whatever did you stop to think that a possible reason for the downrate is because people sometimes don't appreciate trade offers that, regarless of the trader's true motivations, may come across in nature as an attempt to take advantage of other traders ? I've seen plenty of trade offers get downrated over the years because whatever was put on offer could be gotten for free, nearly free or was basically worhless to trade against. You're telling me you haven't ? Did you consider the possibility that since there's a thread sepcifically for cards that folks regarded the op's post as lazy and/or OT ? You're telling me you haven't witnessed that before either ? Perceived lazyness or off topciness slapped on the wrist with a low rated post ?

Was the post rating 'fair', is that where you're getting at ? It's not for me to say, that's where we're different, i fully understood from the get go that, should i care enough to do it, i only get to vote once and that the same is true for each user on this board, you on the other hand always seem very keen on wanting to decide the overall final rating of every post for everybody else and when a post ends up with a rating you don't particlulary agree with it won't take you two seconds to break out the "classy community indeed" shtick - like you did yet again in here.

You know what, fuck it, let's go with it because it makes perfect sense, in a thread where the bulk of the activity direclty realtes to steam this particularr post got downrated on account of its direct relation to steam because the radical gog community "derails and tries different things in various threads".

Happy now ?

Of course it won't. This community used to be quite welcoming, non-agressive and generally nice, and up until about 7 or so months ago, I kept defending it, for better or worse. Say what you will, but the OP went into the thread and wated trade codes for steam cards - he was upfront about his intentions, and whether or not someone values the cards is for him alone to decide, not for a bunch of downvoters. OP wasn't trying to scam anyone or anthing along these lines - he was going into the classifieds thread with the intention of honest trade (presumably at least, no idea if he is honest or not). But the community just decided 'NOPE'

And that doesn't only apply to classifieds thread. Lately, the community is getting progressively more agressive, hostile even. Doesn't matter if it's a guy looking for a trade or simple discussion of preferences - everything around is much more tense now. The reason why GOG community was the one I have stayed in for so long is because I've never had a reason to be afraid to post just what I think, and when I did, more often than not I got a constructive and insightful discussion. Now I can't even say that I dislike bloody aspect in a certain genre without a solid probability of getting called names. Recently I wanted to post up a thread about how controllers can actually enhance a gaming experience - then I have remembered crosmando and just ... Stopped. So yeah, I will get annoyed when signs of this increased agression surface, even when it's dowrepping of somebody who wants to trade.

I noticed the increased hostility as well. Even if I haven't been on the receiving end of it personally, but it is one of the reasons why I am not as active on this forum anymore.

Right now I am afraid of posting in the Gifting thread because of one mistake I made.

Let's be clear clear about something, i didn't implied that the OP had anything but good intentions when he put the cards up for trade or that i know which was the motivation behind the downrate, what i said was that looking at it without bias "people here don't like steam much, people here are shit, thus it figures that every scrap of steam related content gets automatically downaretd" was not the first thing that came to mind because it's bullshit.

And for better or worse IT IS up to the community to decide whatever it is the community ends up deciding, it is not up to you, me, or Mr. Rodgers to make that decision for an entire community. Beyond that you'll either accept that things won't always go the way you'd want to see them go or you won't but if your fundamental complaint is that the world doesn't work as you decided it should work, well, i'm not sure what to tell you other than brace yourself for a lot of dissapointment throughout your life.

Yes, those behavioural shifts tends to happen when growth brings about a wider gap between the fringes, conflicts and animosity tend to creep up more often and the increased fluidity tends to bring about more randomness and chaos. What do you propose ? To outline 'nicety' as seen by Fexinp and replace GOG's TOS with it ?

Oh yes, you do go ahead and try turning me into a naive idiot, that'll definitely help your argument. That's a bit of that hostility right there.

At any rate, what you're basically saying is that when I say I dislike something, it means I want the world to bend by what I want. I would really like you to quote me on when I have ever said anything like that. Reality of the situation is this: Most long-time active members of this community have left. Those I am still in contact with just basically say that this place is insufferable now so I'm fairly sure it's not just me.

Now as I'm not very happy about this development, what do you suggest I do, shut up about it? On discussion boards, which exist for having discussions about different viewpoints? Do you see what I'm getting at here? When I find it insufferable around here, I'll just leave as well, don't worry about that - but until then, don't tell me how I want the world to bend by my rules just because I happen to have a different opinion about something than you do, or that majority does. The day I shut up about what I think is the day I no longer see a point in being here, for fairly understandable reasons.
