I have a code for the entire Realms of Arkania ( and [url=https://secure.gog.com/game/realms_of_arkania_3]3) bundle to spare and I would like to give it away for Pentecost. So, since we're having a religious holyday at the moment, this giveaway comes with a religious question. But one tied to the world of the games:

1) To enter, answer the question: who is your favourite god from the Aventurian pantheon, and why? (Doesn't need to be one of the 12 main gods. Demigods and other minor deities also apply.)

2) If you guess my favourite god from Aventuria, you get an extra entry in the random draw.

3) I'd prefer if you actually want to play the games. They are a bit clunky on the controls side, but they are nicely complex and draw you into their world with an interesting plot. So they still deserve to be played nowadays. So please don't just enter to get them for re-gifting or trading.
But you are welcome to enter for someone else to increase their chances.

The giveaway will close after Pentecost is over. I.e. some time on tuesday.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit: since Wishbone's remark is true, I'll extend the rules a bit: you can also enter by stating some other favourite god from some other fantasy pantheon, if you explain why this god is your favourite.
(no real gods or beliefs please, I don't want this to turn into a discussion of real-world religion)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit2: This giveaway is over.

I'm going to take a wild stab in the dark and guess that the Aventurian pantheon stems from Realms of Arkania, no? Doesn't that mean that your entire giveaway is directed at people who most likely already have the games you're trying to give away?

Yes. Aventuria is the world of Realms of Arkania - which is first and foremost a classical Pen and Paper roleplaying world (DSA - Das Schwarze Auge in German). So I thought that there might be several, who know the world, play RPG but don't have these games yet because they are quite old.

But you are right. It's unfair to disadvantage those who don't know the world and I should give everyone the chance to get to know this world. So I'll look for a short description of the gods I can link here. I'll be back in a moment.

I think it's from the German Dark Eye (or Schnitzel Augen), but I don't think anybody outside of Germany heard of that before RoA.

That should certainly help a bit. I'm just worried that you won't get any takers when knowledge of the game world is a prerequisite for entering.
I don't know about the religion of Aventuria, but my favourite from games is tied between Sheograth and Azura.
What is Pentecost? How can you have a holiday on a sunday?

Yes, I get the impression that the PnP RPG was mostly popular in Germany. I'd certainly never heard of it before the games were released here on GOG.

I think they tried to publish an English version once, but it flopped pretty badly.
I'm not sure when I first heard of it to be honest, I do think it was due to a video game.

Oh and I think holidays quite often fall during weekends, due to the shifting of days.
Hun Batz.. The Mayan Howler Monkey God, of course. :P

Not in. +1

Well, I know sunday is a holy day in general, I just figured he meant he got time of work/school, but if it already is Sunday...
Damn. Most of the sources about the gods are in german (for example the genealogy of the gods)

So to keep things fair, here's a short list of the main gods:

Praios - god of the sun, of law and justice
Rondra - goddess of War, Honor, Knighthood and Thunderstorms
Phex - god of thieves and traders
Hesinde - goddess of knowledge, science and wisdom
Boron - god of death
Rahja - goddess of love and art
Travia - goddess of the hearth, marriage and hospitality
Ingerimm - god of smiths and crafts
Efferd - god of the seas and rain
Firun - god of winter and of the hunt
Peraine - goddess of healing and farming
Tsa - goddess of birth, change and fertility

And some lesser ones:
Aves - god of travels
Nandus - god of education and curiosity
Swafnir - main god of the Thorwalians (the Aventurian equivalent to Vikings), of sea-travels and brawling
Satuaria - goddess of witches
Satinav - god or demon of time
Marbo - goddess of dreams and prophecy
Kor - god of mercenaries and battle
Rashtul - mono-theistic god of the Thulamides (Aventurian Arabs)
Mada - goddess of the moon

And the Nameless One - god of evil.

These aren't all of them, of course. But they should do. My favourite god or goddess is also among those mentioned here.

I changed the rules a bit. So if you want the games, just state your favourite fantasy god/goddess and why he/she is awesome.

Lifthrasil:
Thank you for the gift Lifthrasil. I wanted to enter but since I already have RoA 1&2 it would be a waste.

But I do have a favourite god from the Forgotten Realms world (The NeverWinter game to be precise).
He's Kelemvor the god of the dead. I liked him because he helps the hero in his quest and because he is said to make death less fearsome.
I would say the old RNG "random number god" that gives you the most random deaths in roguelikes like nethack and adom :3

Edit: He's just so evil you keep coming back for more
