OldFatGuy: I dunno, I thought both Phantasmagoria games were pretty fair, at least to me, I didn't see where they were just off the board trivial. And they're from the same era.
But yeah, back in that time Myst IMO had a couple over the top, and most did. But for whatever reason I got more frustrated with those two than most others.
Although moving later in time I will say that Syberia got on my nerves quite a bit.
Oh, and I don't know if Gremlins (I think that's what it was called) is in the same genre, but I thought that's another one where none of them were over the top hard or "out there." Same thing with another classic point and click added here recently that the name escapes me but I played through that whole thing without much trouble. I'll be back in a minute with the name.
But maybe my examples aren't fair because they're not exactly the same genre???
What about the very last puzzle of phantasmagoria 2? And I love that game very much. But yeah, back in that time Myst IMO had a couple over the top, and most did. But for whatever reason I got more frustrated with those two than most others.
