Basically, noone, since Wizards will *never* admit that their new D&D rules are inferior to the older editions by allowing a re-release.
Face it, PST is, and will only ever be, available via $100 on ebay, or for free via "piracy".

In rediculous situations like this where noone seems to know who has what rights to what and as a result noone is either making money off the product or more importantly getting to enjoy it copyright should really be waved. I mean if none of these people seem to know if they have the rights or not its hardly even piracy.

That or there should be a challenge period where the owner can defend the copyright, if nothing else we might find out who the hell they ARE and be able to barrage them with emails requesting the re-release

Download the game somewhere... no one is allowing you to buy it new, those massively inflated ebay prices don't give one dime to the creators or investors. Just download it, there is no moral issue there.

I just wanna play it properly!!! Someone hurry up and get this game legit.

A mate of mine had the cds and I tried to install it, unfortunately the amount of bugs made it unplayable and yes I did get all the patches/updates. Cpu speed farked it up good. Got incorrect colours everywhere, hidden screen parts... BLEH. But from what I saw r.e. storyline, I wanted more. A LOT MORE.

thats a guide to installing the mods and fixes, it's helped me run it perfectly on 64bit vista (at least for the first third of the game so far) though it was a bitch to get installed. I had to do the exact same process 3-4 times before it decided it wanted to work.
Definitely worth it though. So much so that I'm severely tempted to put off my much needed cleaning for another day to play more PST...

Even if they are, the worst that can happen is you'll be able to suddenly buy it tomorrow and either have to reinstall and re-mod or just keep going with the dodgy version

Copyright is a depressing issue. God damn trolls and copyright sitters abusing the system and using it in a way it isn't supposed to be used.
Just a note folks, that guide IS slightly old with the patches. I suggest going to the sites where the patches originate from and getting the newer ones. But I agree, that guide was immensely helpful in just being a step by step guide. All it needs right now is an update. Specifically for the 2 CD setup.

Oh come on, Steam isn't even the worst of it. I won't bother to argue right now (I've got the ultimate end-all be-all post planned out!), but really, "dreaded" Steam? There are far more worse things than Steam. No hostility wanted, just saying, it just makes me sad that there's any kind of bashing in a community like this.

I had all the old Scumm Lucasarts games through "pirated" copies, but as soon as they released some of them on Steam I bought them all. When they release more, I will buy those.
As much as I am against piracy and downloading games, there are many, many classics almost unobtainable in any reasonable way, and Planescape is certainly among them. I fear the day games are all account-based and downloaded and the loss of a title due to company collapse or something means it is forever unplayable.
Like a closed MMO... Matrix Online, Tabula Rasa... those games can NEVER be played again, in any way... that freaks me out, even though I don't care about those two specifcally.

Yeah, totally agree. It's sad to see games and/or art (if you think games are art [I personally do]) disappear just because some business died. But hey, that's what GOG's for, right?
I really hope LucasArts does the sensible thing and release their old games here (heck, I might even buy the original Monkey Island even though I've got the Special Edition). I hear the Steam releases are a mess because they haven't made the code work for XP and newer OSes. Which is, quite frankly, appalling. Bring back the old philosophies, not the old code, LucasArts.

Tabula Rasa did actually interest me a bit, but since I've been high on WoW since its conception I didn't need another MMO. Isn't there any so-called "private server" project like for the aforementioned WoW and Gaia Online? (Those are the two I know about)
