1. Connery (iconic)
2. Lazenby (vastly underrated. OHMSS is dissed too readily.)
3. Brosnan (very good, Goldeneye is in my top 5)
4. Craig (good, but the movies are now just "action" and not JB)
5. Moore (pure 70's cheese. Watchable only if intoxicated)
6. Dalton (ugh, dry as toast. I preferred him in Flash Gordon, and that says something)

wodmarach: I swear everybody forgets the original casino royal though a comedy was an official bond movie.. therefore I again say David Niven was the best bond!
I agree. I don't like the bond films Ive seen bar casino royale which was quite good.

Connery and Moore are equal in my eyes. Connery was the proper 'serious' Bond (as serious as Bond can be), Moore brought the comedy.

The others in this order:

- Brosnan (good mix of Connery and Moore)
- Dalton (Massively underated IMO)
- Craig (Meh, not a big fan of the new 'edgier' Bond)
- Lazenby (Only one movie so not much to judge him on, he was the closest to Ian Flemmings actual Bond though)

I don't think that Craig was edgier. Not compared to Dalton at least. It's just that Craig was a bit more like what you'd expect a British assassin to actually be like. That is a bit more than the pure fantasy of previous Bonds. I'm not calling Craig's Bond realistic.

No there is nothing realistic about Craig's Bond, by edgier I meant the whole tone of the movies. Overly dark camera filters, brutal fight scenes and copious amounts of blood are not really what I expect when I watch a Bond movie. Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace were like Bond directed by Michael Bay with second unit direction by the Wachowskis.

Well there always has been a good few explosions and deaths in Bond films... to put it mildly. But the ending of QoS was particularly pyrotechnic, I'll give you that.

I haven't seen it either, but it certainly seems like an oddity. He's American for starters...

Yeah but Bond has always had a comic, larger than life feel about it. The Craig Bond has that grittiness that I just don't like.

Maybe but both consider themselves Scottish and Welsh. Connery especially is a fierce supporter of Scottish Independence and never seen without a kilt these days.
