9TB of GOG games, or of combined external HD space?
combined hd space
4 2 tb's
and 1 1 tb

and currently an internal 40 gig ssd and 160 gig hd but i dont really count those

my gog games amount for around 400 gig ...ish
That's the beauty of DRM-free: the ability to back up your games! Having the installer is so much better than having to rely on an always-online client with no real installer. :P
You're giving some good ideas here :-)

My plan was to put all on Blu-rays but I've been lazy just burning a part of it so far :-) I do, however, like the hard disk idea - I guess I have some spare 500 GB around that won't suffice anymore for system backups. The question of durability of media is a good one. I remember some Blu-rays of a certain brand I've burned which are now unreadable ...

I also like the NAS ideas but haven't ventured to make a big investment - I have some slow D-Link NAS with 1 TB disks I "bricked" but my dream would be to build something of my own with probably FreeBSD on it but that can be quite expensive :-)
Currently I have all GOG games backed up, but I intend to go through them at some point and get rid of some that I don't have any interest in ever playing (which probably will include most of the free games). I did the same with all the DRM-free games from humble bundles and the like.

I have 3x 3TB externals, but only one of them has GOG games on it.
Every single game, yes. And I thank the team of GOG that I am allowed to do that.
If I ask how to backup patches from my Wii U or Ps3, people look at me as if I ask how to teach a goldfish to fly.
It’s all on a USB flash drive, in a locker at Heathrow Airport, guarded by a retired German wrestler named Helga.

That you can now buy 8TB hard disk for 300+, I am sure 6 months later you have 16 TB HD for cheap. I don't see the point collecting that many HD. It may be clutter in the future

That kind of thinking means you never buy anything because something bigger and better is always right around the corner.
Nothing yet, but I just started using GOG and only have a few games on it. Not too worried about it...yet.

Don't wait. You'll have a ton of games not backed up before you know it.

I have all my games backed up on two internal drives and an external drive. I back them up as soon as I buy them.
Me! Not because i am afraid of GoG shutting down, but because games get regularly updated! Certain ones, have certain exploits, or better experience, in previous versions! Latest doesn't always mean best!

Nop, I buy when I absolute need it, or when it becomes a problem, or when it is so cheap that my reasoning is suspended. Rarely before.

When I can get on nicely without purchasing something for so long, most likely I do not need it.

This kind of thinking let me survive the smart phone hype. When people are changing into iphone 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, I still can use my 5 year Nokia phone. I rather like that, it can drop many many times and will be still functioning. I only need to charge my phone once per week instead of smart phone daily / half day battery charge.

New is not better, as KiNgBrAdLeY7 says, Latest doesn't always mean best!

I back up my games once I download them to play. I'm not actively downloading everything only for the purpose of backing up, though.
