we all know that any media can have their "cults".from books,movies,games.
one thing I like about GOG is that they bring us games with cult followings.
I'm curious about which games here have this status.the ones I know are:Planescape:Torment,Anachronox and Phantasmagoria 2 ,this one is because the Spoony's let's play.

Outcast has a strong cult following. It's even getting a Cryengine-powered, fan-made "sequel" in the form of Open Outcast.

Morrowind. (and the earlier Elder Scrolls games would be cool as well. Especially if they somehow managed to fish up Battlespire and Redguard.)
Which GOGs don't? Or how do you define cult status?

To name a few more that would probably fit the description: Fallout, Gothic, Psychonauts, Gabriel Knight, the Tex Murphy games, maybe The Longest Journey etc. etc.

If you're talking about an actual community actively worshipping the game (well, more the engine than the game), definitely Neverwinter Nights.

Not bad. Incidentally, I just started playing Outcast yesterday. So far so good. After playing a while I checked out the artwork from the extras, and I was thinking how good this game would actually look if it was made today. The lowly resolution certainly doesn't help, making all that great concept art detail get lost in translation.

A definition would be helpful what you exactly mean with cult, espcecially in comparison to classic. The Wing Commander series still got many fanmade games, also Duke Nukem 3D has it's own community (HD-patch, port). Master of Orion is still known as best 4x-space strategy game and thanks to kyubb got fanpatches. He does also patches for Master of Magic and Alpha Centauri, which are also still very popular and have their fanbases.

Yeah, plus the voxels look funky today because games hardly ever used them, so while unique it doesn't age extremely well. I still remember when Outcast came out, and noone could run it. Even the test rigs for mags like PC Games had difficulty getting it to run smoothly.
Fallout
I believe the Thief series fits into "cult" status... some wonderful folks are still building FMs today.
Sacrifice ,HOMM, Duke Nukem, Darklands, Freespace, Beneath a Steel Sky, Lure of the Temptress, Messiah, erm... think these are it.
When I think cult I think games that didn't do that well commercially on their initial release but have a strong fanbase... stuff like Sacrifice, Nox and Beyond Good & Evil.

The games in my collection I'd consider as Cult classics are: In Cold Blood, Sanitarium, Syberia, The Temple of Elemental Evil, Arcanum, Anachronox, Septerra Core, Nox, Shogo, Redneck Rampage, Aquanox, Dark Star One, Psychonauts, MDK 2, Outcast, Sacrifice, Ground Control 2, Spellforce, Alien Nations (for me personally), Space Rangers, Call to Power 2,

Also Fallout, Master of Orion and Alpha Centaury. Oh, and i know Legend of Grimrock is a newer game and all that, but it has all the right ingredients to become a cult-game if it hasn't become one already.

That is the right question. You can take the bestseller list and the top 50% are all "cult games".
