I agree with you. And things have become very dull here since I decided to invest less time here due to having more PC games to play.

People should be proud if one of their posts gets low rated unless the post is something like, "can someone please gift me a $100 game" or "fuck you everyone for no reason" or "post pics of dead people or animals." A low rated post is usually a post revealing the truth that nobody wants to read or something else original.

It's kind of hard to figure out what exactly Tarm is saying in his OP, but I think that whatever it is, downvoting it kind of proves the point in it.

Though I understand his doubts about "greatness" of this forum. If you say something against the "opinion of the majority", you may get downvoted because you think different or that you don't agree. And no, this is not about the daily "Steam sucks!" threads. On the other hand the discussions here usually stay civil because luckily many of our trolls have left.

Nobody loves to ruffle feathers as much as I do, but this is a gaming forum; more than that it is an escape. I come here to escape the backbiting and arguing that is life 24/7. If anything I think that too much of anything (including agitation) makes things dull. Arguing is fine and often its fun but too much of it leaves you jaded spent and flat on humanity. I have an Aunt like that. Everything she does is a means to aggrivate someone else, which is fine, but that is ALL she does. As a result she is the most unhappy person I know, and more than that shes boring.

That reminds me of my grandma. She's not boring, she's the most depressing human being I've ever known. So I have to agree.

And in closing, something else just occured to me; this is no shit, and kind of funny I think. I don't know how "safe" this forum is because in the 15 years I've been bouncing around internet forums and chat rooms, this is the only one that I HAVN'T BEEN BARRED FROM! Whatever it is I do to piss people off I'm definitley allowed more freedom to do it in here than anyother place I've ever tried. Thumbs Up!

I don't think the sentiments expressed in the OP are all that true. I've witnessed plenty of worthwhile debates and knowledge being dropped on each other in many a thread. I've been here for a year or two myself, and the major thing I've noticed with this community versus many others I've frequented, is this: GOG is full of adult gamers. Sure, we troll sometimes, sure, people are quick to downvote sometimes, but aside from that, most people ARE willing to debate in a reasonable fashion. Being a somewhat adult oriented community, though, I think we're less likely to allow a solid thread to denigrate into flame wars.
