I've read in a few places now that Larian is looking into the possibility of GOG Galaxy support so if they do, then crossplay might be likely. Direct IP support is pretty nice though too.

It would suit GOG to do more to let people know a game will come to this service. For example, in the wishlist there are 3 or 4 games that have been put as "in-progress" which is good to know, but others that are essentially confirmed (though obviously not everyone knows this) have not. The main one I have in mind is Dreamfall: Chapters.

I don't think it would suit them well though to spend months or years trying to woo a developer/publisher to bring their games to the service, convince them to do it and be working on it, announce it and upset the publisher for letting the cat out of the bag and then the publisher decide to cancel the deal or have bad blood about it.
There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes under NDAs with this type of stuff.

the sooner we get galaxy the better , its going to be a nightmare under the current method , so what are the downloads for this game ?
main game installer ? additional pre order dlc installer ? day 1 patch install ? extras having separate downloads ?
this is where having a client that auto downloads the stuff for the game is needed

Larian has created their own custom updater for Dragon Commander on GOG, and also is using it for Original Sin from what they have said on their own forums. They are investigating Galaxy also now from what I hear.
Presumably once Galaxy is available, games will start moving to it for these sort of things, and the Galaxy back end will spit out more sensible update deltas for people not using the client for straight web downloads etc. also.

the only part of the dlc content i don't have listed on my larian vault account is the Golden Grail DLC.
IF (for one reason or another) there's a technical issue at release and some backers get only the base game on GOG (i remember the Dragon Commander Imperial edition case) I suppose Larian will put a gog code for the DLC / extra content not avaible with the base game

i agree how the dlc are handle on gog, its not very good -_- -> the downloader create a directory for every dlc LOL
i don't have any problem with the extras , they are archives , and it's better than Steam : Where you should navigate to the game directory where the game is installed.

GOG sure taking their time with making Galaxy, it's something we need right now, not alot of people are going to accept manual patching nowadays especially since Steam is so popular.
Having said that, a poster above might be correct in that the "special edition" of DOS on GOG has the DLC.

Er most of us *prefer* manual patching. And many used to it. Just because Steam does something doesnt mean its right or correct way to do things. Steam is not GOG and GOG is not Steam. GOG actually bothers to listen to its customers....

I can't wait when Divinity: Original Sin gets released here tomorrow and when people express anger at GOG's regional pricing of the game.
