I'm not liking the new XCOM game, in part that is due to the way it screws over the original story line. In the original X-Com, it's 1998 when the Aliens arrive and X-Com is formed after it's perceived as a threat, X-Com being made up of the best resources from all countries yet they still start with Pistols and Rifles.
Hello XCOM, we're suddenly back in 1960s, Aliens have arrived and they are attacking, the idea is to turn their technology on them... Clearly there is a problem with the story here, why didn't Earth remember this incursion? More importantly why didn't earth have a shred of Alien technology in the original?
Simply put this new game appears to step all over the original, perhaps they explain it all away in the story but on first appearance it seems to jump up and down on the original while laughing maniacally.
