Right, so last JUNE it was revealed that "IdeaSpark Labs" would be developing MDK2 HD, to be distributed on BioWare's own Beamdog distribution service. Since that revelation, I have not seen hide nor hair of this game. No news articles, not even any Tweets. I've looked all over Beamdog.com and all I found was the original MDK2. I've been to ideasparklabs.com and all I found under "Projects" was "Beamdog" and "Unannounced". The site itself doesn't appear to have been updated since '09. Is the game vaporware now?

I think I've heard of MDK, but I can't help you with this question, mate. Sorry :P

So why are you answering? This isn't the first time you've answered one of my questions with "I think I've heard of what you're talking about, but I don't know what it is so I can't help you". You don't get points for racking up a post count here, and in fact your post count isn't even recorded. "Looking for feedback and suggestions concerning the HD remake"? There's only two things they need to focus on: Updating graphics, and altering the ending so that it sets up the stage for MDK 3. They really ought not screw with a whole lot else.
I replayed MDK2 a few months ago (thanks to GOG, btw) and I was impressed as to how it aged well. The cartoony models are a bit rough around the edge, but overall the game still looks very nice.

I agree with you : this 'HD' version should not be too much work to do. Adding a few more polygons here and there, and creating more detailed textures shouldn't take so much time for a full dev team. I hope they didn't cancel the project.
I wish they would've updated MDK 1 first, considering D3D mode (the visually best mode) doesn't work under vista/win7. It runs fine in Glide mode using nGlide wrapper, but with Glide's 16 bit color and 256X256 texture limitations, etc. the graphics are very noticeably worse.
The game could also benefit greatly from some engine, interface, control updates (i.e. full 360 mouselook on the "Y" axis, etc.) as well.

Not that I wouldn't love an updated MDK2, but I personally think the game still looks great - especially when you add 16X AS and at least 4X AA while running it at 1920X1080.
Here is the MDK2 Intro running at 1280X720 16:9 widescreen (HD) for those interested or unfamiliar with MDK.

I think it was called "MDK2 Armageddon" on consoles.

Don't worry, I'm not giving you special dispensation. I try to make friendly conversation with most people, although the results can occasionally be lacking. I'll try to make a note not to annoy you with idle chitchat, of course.

Sorry, you caught me as I was coming off shift. I'll make a note to curb my irritability.

My timing was poor, anyway. No harm done. It's never fun for the first response to a question to be inane babble.
