keeveek: ...and I probably am going to start buying oldies elsewhere.
If you aren't satisfied and there are stores that meet your needs, why do you hold off? I'm tired of waiting for Linux support too, so I'm buying titles without it elsewhere (namely Humble Store).

DAMN, IT JUST HIT ME.

On that poem the refference for the Adventure is 2nd in the row.

At the last line of the poem, it says "you're looking for".

If you change the "k" in "looking" with "M" (since it's the 2nd letter after K) , you'll get LOOMING.

THE NEW ADVENTURE IS LOOM!

LUCAS ARTS CONFIRMED!!!

Mostly because I thought I'd like to have a library of classic games at one place. Unified GOG installers, nice shelf ant all, it all tinkled my collector's ego.

But now, I don't know if I care that much anymore.

I am just afraid that GOG thinking selling 2d indie platformers 2 weeks before / 2 weeks after they are in the humble bundle is a good strategy, there might be another "Sorry, GOG shuts down folks" but this time it won't be a marketing stunt.

And I hate storing digital games offline.

Please don't toy with my hopes and dreams :p The hint about "an adventure from a dev not seen before" is enough to speculate about LucasArts though...

Yeah, I'd love to have stored everything on GOG too yet the reality is that GOG doesn't offer everything already available here for unknown reasons. I don't mind waiting but why should I wait for a solid game that is available DRM-free with bonuses and in multi-platform elsewhere for months and IP owners made it clear they wish to sell here?

I don't want to experience another "beta ended, sorry". Yet solely me doesn't make up GOG's sales and if there are existing problems leading to the point, it's not up to me to divert it. The ball is in their court now.

Yeah... at least give us some other indie genres - like adventures... I'm sure there are some insta-buys for me, that I'm not even aware of.

Now, in all seriousness, i doubt it would be Lucas Arts.
If it were them, there would be a lot more hype/buzz going on, with many site leaks (from other sites) and it wouldn't me announced along with other games coming to GOG, like it's something natural.

One possible dev is Level 7. It has some interesting adventure games.

By the way i really hope the Gory game is Nocturne....

That would be beyond awesome.

TerrorK: Thanks. Yes, I've been with GOG for a while, but this is the first actual post I've made beyond a few review comments.

I knew about the GOG name "change" from an interview actually, but still... I come to this place to get classics from the past that are hard to get now and/or tend to be fussy on modern hardware, not to get new stuff (although I have, admittedly, got Fez, Botanicula and Giana Sisters Twisted Dreams from here... the latter of course because I was a fan of the Amiga original and Chris Huelsbeck's music).

I'm really hoping for the original Theme Park more than anything. I'd love to play it again. I've got Theme Park World and have played some of the others, but none quite capture the brilliance and magic of the original, IMO.
And I come to this place look for affordable DRM-free titles, ancient or not.

I care more about the DRM-free and affordable part than the retro part.

Different users have different needs.

The newer releases bring more beacon for GOG (less of a hassle to get and maintain, bigger user base as it appeals to all generations) and actually puts them on the map so that they don't just look like a retro gaming site which is great for the DRM-free movement.

AlKim: This vaguely reminds me of the Porsche Cayenne SUV. The Internet went apeshit when that was first announced, but Porsche went on with the idea anyway. It didn't stop them developing sports cars, and in fact the Cayenne has been such a commercial success that I wouldn't be at all surprised if some of the profits get filtered down to sports car development.
Didn't Lamborghini also make some Hummer-like jeep? At least I recall driving such a car... in "4D Sports: Driving" (aka "Stunts!") game, IIRC.

In my opinion, what GOG misses the most, even more than old DOS games, are semi-new AAA tiles. Games like Far Cry 2, the Riddick game, the newer Prince of Persia games etc., they are the cream of the crop for me in GOG. So what we really need here are more Hitman games, more Tomb Raider games, more AssCreed games, more more more...

I couldn't care less if some were silly enough to already buy them from Steam. That's your problem. The only solution for that is that you stop buying games from Steam, if it pains you so much to see the same games also here.

keeveek: but still no Emperor for some odd reason.
I asked Occam's razor, and she said that most probably it is _not_ because GOG wants to release as few games (old or new) as possible.

So that's why we had to wait 2 years for more Prince of Persia games and Settlers 3 another few years. Because so many legal problems!

My intuition tells me, that the simplest answer is: people behind GOG's release schedule are crazy.

Trilarion: Good point to put some pressure on GOG.

Take the 50 most wanted games from the wishlist and list where to buy them and which DRM and the price and then put this list public here. So people tired of waiting know where to go.
I didn't wait. I got e.g. FlatOut 2, Cossacks 2 and Vampire: Bloodlines from DotEmu instead (DRM-free). And I don't even feel bad about it, as if I had cheated on GOG or something. Unfortunately, my gesture haven't yet brought those games to GOG. But as long as I already have them DRM-free from somewhere else, I'm fine.

One exception though: I got Post Mortem from DotEmu, and later it appeared also to GOG. So now you know who to thank for it coming to GOG.

I agree. They aren't too difficult to get into for newcomers (like Lords of Midnight's visual look), they were tested by time and popular demand and I assume that their sales aren't so rocket high anymore for (reasonable) IP owner to give a damn about a piracy.
And let's be honest, that era bears a majority of titles I want to own DRM-free.

Mivas: Gamersgate does use DRM. The fact that you can easily crack it doesn't make it magically DRM-free service.
You're mistaken. As keeveek pointed out, there are certain classics which are available on Gamersgate in a DRM-free form.
Cases in point:
Airline Tycoon
Faces of War
Secret Files: Tunguska
The Sting!
X: Beyond the Frontier
X2: The Threat
X3:Reunion

Plus a few more recent games, for example:
Darkness Within
A Vampyre Story

To be honest, they should have become available for purchase on GOG a long time ago.
