keeveek: And what are the legal problems with Privateer 2
There are no more legal problems for Privateer 2 (aka The Darkening). Patience young Padawan.

Mivas: Haven't we already discussed Emperor? I don't recall BreakAway Games made a deal with GOG. Do you have their statement that they are so ready to release it here?
Well, they released every other game from this publisher and developer, we have Pharaoh, Cleopatra, Zeus, Poseidon, Caesar 3, and even Children of the nile

but still no Emperor for some odd reason. It's the same dev, the same publisher, the same engine. I have absolutely no idea why this isn't released yet.

There must be some reason, but I fail to find any. Just like there is no reason for not releasing The Settlers 1.

btw. from DotEmu games, I would really like to see The Sting! on GOG.
Dear GOG,

When are you going to RELEASE THE KRAKEN!?

Great news. Seriously, amazing news. I also hope the rumours about Bullfrog expansions coming are also true, and then I would be happy. For some time :P
CD Projekt probably semi-recently downsized GOG's staff to a skeleton crew in order to divert more money to Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk development, and as a result GOG don't have the manpower to search out for new contracts.

Pharaoh, Zeus and Caesar 3 are under Impressions Games.
Children of the Nile are owned by Tilted Mill Entertainment.
Emperor is divided between Impressions Games and BreakAway Games.

My guess would be that Settlers 1 is probably harder to optimize. Or maybe not and it's down to the release pipeline. Who knows. I hope GOG will release Albion one day.

TerrorK: ...I love you GOG, but I'm sick of looking for updates and just seeing new stuff. Give us some classics here.
I also want more classics, but I guess that GOG simply do not have many more of them, otherwise I guess they would have mixed old and new games better. At least that's what they did in the past and it was reasonable too to have a good mix.

So if GOG hasn't many classics ready than either they could stop releasing games at all or releasing some of the rather mediocre modern indie games. I guess it's better to release something instead of releasing nothing, also new games could interest somebody. Surely they didn't release a Baldurs Gate like game for a long time.

Just visit less often and do not waste your time. Eventually there might come some new classics here again.

In the end Steam and all the other services are competitors for GOG, they also offer classic games to some extent. In a free economy monopolies are quite seldom after all.

I thought emperor was also published by Sierra and today's owner of Sierra is Activision.

Zeus, Pharaos and Ceasar are published here under Activision. Did Activision fail to secure the rights for Emperor?

I thought that GOG was hiring and now is hiring again. But it's probably harder, next to impossible to search out the remaining contracts of classic games. For example Monkey Island won't come if Disney doesn't want it.

I do not know. I listed names of developers - that's where the difference between titles is visible. And that's why I asked you if you have an information about the IP owner's approval. The power to approve or decline how the product is used can be held by multiple subjects.

Just look at the community wishlist. There are THOUSANDS of games. You can't say only a few of them can be released.

Where is SimCity 3000? Where Is Desert Storm 2? Where are The Sims 1 Complete? There are tons of old games to be released, my friend. Not all of them require that much work as System Shock 2.

Okay there are many such games. But then has somebody else them to show that they can be obtained? As customers we can only threaten to change the shop. Apart from starting our own GOG (GOG made right) what can we do?

Be pissed off :P

It looks like lately Steam is releasing more classics than GOG does. But it's not a strange thing, while GOG still thinks 2 releases a week is a good pace.

I am ok with my GOG catalogue for now. But I was patient and thought "well, I'd like to have my entire classics collection on GOG", but I'm tired of waiting, and I probably am going to start buying oldies elsewhere.

Good point to put some pressure on GOG.

Take the 50 most wanted games from the wishlist and list where to buy them and which DRM and the price and then put this list public here. So people tired of waiting know where to go.
