Crewdroog: Mine is a board game: Balderdash. Freaking fun as hell game.

Ixamyakxim: Wow I had a lot of fun with this one too! This is where you make up fake definitions for odd words and try to guess the real one, while tricking people into thinking your one is correct yes?
yuppers. So many fun nights of wine and this game. Although, as the wine increased the sense anything made totally went downhill, much to everyone's enjoyment.
Final Fantasy VIII

I may be a bit biased, but last time I played it (4 years ago) it stood up extremely well.
I'll just list a few:

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl
Deus Ex
Knights in the Nightmare
UFO: Enemy Unknown (AKA X-COM: UFO Defense)
XCOM: Enemy Unknown w/ Enemy Within. (And don't forget Long War!)
The World Ends With You
Freespace 2

EDIT:

My overall favorite will have to be S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. Sure, there are bugs here and there, and it's hard. However, the game is atmospheric, the story is good as well, and I really like the gunplay in this game.

There's rules to naming your favorite game?

We don't talk about the rules
Of all games, whether board games, video, card games, etc. I'd have to go with D&D. I had more fun with that game (especially the AD&D rule set) than any other. Being able to jump into a published module with a bunch of friends and a fantasy character of my own creation, or being able to take friends through a world of my own and have them discover all the cool things I could think to throw in there... nothing beats that.
Freelancer.

I spent more time playing that game then any other game in my life thus far.

It has hundreds of mods for it so it never gets old.

Fond memories of starting on a Friday night and not finishing until Sunday night, crazy how much fun it was ;)
I'd have to say Borderlands 1 and 2(you can play one without out the other) are my favorite games,at least for the time being. I adore the world they're set in, love the art style and content. I was so exited when the second one came and now I'm slowly grabbing all the DLC for it and wish there was more. :D
Warcraft III.

Thousands of hours spent playing custom games...

I make my own dang rules.
It's really impossible to pick only one. If you look at the game you spent the most time with it would suggest one or more. If you look at the game you enjoyed the most while playing it, it might suggest something totally different. Favorite has many facets.

Here are some that might be at least candidates for my favorite game, given the above:

- Third Reich (Avalon Hill board game)
- Star Wars Galaxies (before they ruined it multiple times)
- Civilization II
- Traveller by Game Designer's Workshop
- Blackjack

So there you go. A perhaps unconventional list that shows my age! :D
