I really like the "classic" (A)D&D alignment system and I'm curious where my fellow GOGers would place themselves.

For the three people not knowing what I'm talking about: The alignment system in D&D puts characters and creatures (and societies/cultures) into categories in a two-axis-system.

The ethical axis goes from "Lawful" (respecting the rules of society) to "Chaotic" (living by one's own rules).
The moral axis goes from "Good" (i.e. altruism, compassion) to "Evil" (i.e. egoism, ruthlessness).

With both axes there is "Neutral" grounds in the middle. Combined they form a handy 3x3 grid.
Some examples:
An ideal judge should be "Lawful Neutral".
Robin Hood would be "Chaotic Good".
A RIAA lawyer is probably "Lawful Evil".
My cat is "Chaotic Neutral".
Gary Oldman is all of them. (example)

I would consider myself Chaotic (mostly) Good in everyday life - authority has to earn my respect first, before I can accept it. But I try to make life as good as possible for people around me.

At work however, I tend to be Lawful Neutral. As a (senior) software developer I'm pretty technology agnostic - I choose what gets the job done - be it "Good" Open Source or "Evil" Microsoft. But I insist that rules of code style, documentation and design patterns are followed.

How about you?
Chaotic Good
I thought about this from just your post title, since I knew where you were going. And strangely enough, my results are largely in accord with your own, as I discovered once I read the body of your post.

I aspire to Chaotic Good, in that I would love to be able to make things better at will and spread joy without necessarily being constrained by ideas of conventionality.

Yet in my actual life I am very much Lawful Neutral. I believe in structure and order, I have a strong sense of justice, and am not above resorting to less than ideal methodologies to achieve necessary ends. I hope that I shade towards the Good end in my actions and intentions, but I'm no paragon.
Chaotic Good.
I usually play with this aligment, because this is the easiest for me to role-play.

I think I've done this before. Here's a link to a questionnaire.

I remember I got Chaotic Neutral.
I am also Lawful Liberal, Chaotic Mathematics, and True Omnivore on the political, scientific, and dietary spectrums.

So you play the game as a Lawyer? I didn't know D&D offered that....hold on a sec.

DOH! There it was the whole time, right between Ranger and Mage! Man I'm stupid!
I have a small scoliosis.
I almost always get Chaotic Neutral when I do those D&D alignment tests, but in real life I think I tend to the good end of Lawful Neutral.

Of course, my wife's a cop so that may influence the Law/Chaos axis somewhat...
I've been told before it is Chaotic Neutral leaning Chaotic Good at times.
Chaotic Good with a slight incline towards neutral.
Lawful Whedon

Not the most well-known alignment, rumour has it even Gary Gygax forgot about it most of the time. It basically means lots and lots of snark and obscure popcultural references. And dead fan-favourites.
