Hey guys,

since modern games kinda sucked, I recently had lots of fun with the GOG RPGs. I played Baldurs Gate 1 & 2, Planescape:Torment, Neverwinter Nights 2 Complete and loved em all so far.

Next for me would be Icewand Dale, but I'm unsure of it. I heard it's rather action orientated and I like to have dialoge options and stuff. But I guess it cant be worse than NWN2?
Another game I might try is Arcanum, but the setting isn't totally my thing... but I'll definetly give it a shot, just not the NEXT shot maybe ;)

how about them Ultima and Might & Magic games? Was thinking about them, but something kept me off... and last but not least I'm very interessted in the game "Betrayal at Krondor" which seems to be outstanding.

So if anyone could give me some experiences and suggestions, I'd be a very happy gamer ;)

Would suggest getting Icewind 1 and 2. They might have less dialogue, but they're still both great games. Don't play 'em and you're missing out. Arcanum's also good from what I've seen. And one of the smartest people I know sings the praises of Krondor extensively, enough that it's on my own personal to-do list.
From there, not really sure. You've already run through some of the very best GOG has to offer.

Well, if you don't mind very pixellated graphics, Betrayal at Krondor is an excellent game. Might and Magic 6, 7, and 8 are all quite good (I lean toward 6, myself, but that might just be nostalgia), and of course Ultima 7 and the Ultima Underworlds are amazing. If you like Might and Magic, Wizardy 8 is a great game, though it's less forgiving.

I didn't really get into the IWD games. They're like Diablo in the Infinity engine, which really isn't my cup of meat.

Here are some other RPGs and action RPGs that I think you would do well not to ignore:

Temple of Elemental Evil - also a D&D RPG like you started out with, but truly turn-based and - IMO - the best of the 3rd ed. RPGs after NWN2 MotB.

Divine Divinity and Divinity 2 - more actiony, but much more RPG than, say, Diablo clones. And, though this may not be a majority opinion, more RPG than even the Icewind Dale games, I felt.

The Witcher 1&2. These are really good games, though now we're getting even more action-like. You should be able to get them quite cheaply.

Deus Ex - it's quite the classic.

If you find you like strategy games with RPG leanings, I would whole-heartedly recommend Heroes of Might and Magic (2, 3, and 5...1 is a little too old, 4 a little too out of place), Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic, King's Bounty (The Legend has the silliest and most fun feel to it; Crossworlds has the best gameplay), Disciples 2 Gold, and the sci-fi gem NEXUS: The Jupiter Incident.

inb4 Licurg tells you to buy Sacrifice >.>
Buy Sacrifice ! It's not RPG, but it's what you're looking for .

Is there any point in time that Sacrifice wouldn't be what a person's looking for, in your humble opinion?

IceWind is probably my favorite older 'squad' rpg but I think a lot of that is because of reasons that a lot of people are not so fond of it. I love BG and I don't consider myself a cerebral defect but the fact is at the end of the day when I'm beat and want some leisure I like to keep it simple. I don't want to have to worry about the psyche of my team or my standing in the community....I want to travel around and kill monsters and shit! :D IceWind gives me that and while there are advantages to attitude and alignment, it isn't a game breaker unlike BG where one wrong comment may leave your party member trying to kill you, your other group members, or both! :P
On the topic of Arcanum, I strongly recommend it if you enjoyed Fallout and Baldur's Gate and want a slightly less than both but still good hybrid of the two.
I agree I didn't care for the setting at first either but it eventually shifts around a bit later in the game. It actually alternates wildly from Steampunk to a Baldur's Gate 1 look and feel.

I'd say give IWD a spin first, but I haven't gotten around to playing either yet so I can't comment there. I just know everyone says they're amazing.

Zidster: -snip-
Fallout 1 + 2 + even "Tactics" if you havent already.

Driftmoon is supposedly very good, but i havent had the time to try it out yet - even though its finnish. :/
Of your choices I would suggest IWD.

Arcanum is very good but it can be an acquired taste, you will find yourself in more familiar surroundings with IWD.
I reccomend sex and drugs.

Would've been very much surprised if you'd gone with any other answer.

Definitely don't pass up Tactics if you can get ahold of it. It's not 1 or 2, but it brings its own good qualities to the table. Only bad thing I remember is some wonky NPC AI, but even that can be funny. Try to save some hostages, kill the bad guys, but then the hostages start being read as hostile and your team ends up turning the bar into a bloodbath.

Thank you all.

I think I'll go with IWD and Arcanum for the next months. Also this Sacrifice looks pretty interessting, might give it a look later that year... aw, hell, I'm even throwing in some of that sex and drugs thing someone mentioned, sounds quite catchy.
