I don't get it. GOG is supposed to be a site about OLD games that don't work with todays OS.
Why does GOG keeps releasing NEW 2011-2012 games? There is no compatibility issue about these games, so why do they bother releasing them here.

There are so many classic titles that are yet to be released here, like

FINAL FANTASY VII
FINAL FANTASY VIII
LOST EDEN
DUNE
ECSTATICA
ECSTATICA II
FADE TO BLACK
STAR TREK: A FINAL UNITY
STAR TREK: GENERATIONS
DEADLY TIDE
LOADSTAR: THE LEGEND OF TULLY BODINE
GRANDIA II
STUBBS THE ZOMBIE
NEVERHOOD CHRONICLES
MAD DOG MCCREE
MAD DOG MCCREE II
DRAGON'S LAIR
DRAGON'S LAIR II
SPACE ACE
PANZER DRAGOON
TOONSTRUCK
CYBERIA
CYBERIA II
ALIEN TRILOGY
CREATURE SHOCK

or even small games like

ONE MUST FALL 2097
STARGUNNER

not to mention several LUCASARTS games.

Although GRANDIA II and STUBBS THE ZOMBIE are not as old as FADE TO BLACK they have compatibility issues with Windows Vista that makes them "not playable".
Why doesn't GOG bother to make these games work again, rather than giving us NEW games that already work?

They are constantly adding OLD games to the catalog. Having newer games added as well does not detract from the site imo it merely adds in a broader audience/market.

Several games/publisher titles they aren't adding because they either can't get in contact with the publisher/copyright holder to work out a deal to sell the games OR they are in constant contact but have not worked out a deal to make the games available (hence why Lucasarts published titles aren't on sale).

They can't just sell old games willy nilly like you want unfortunately, they are still bound by law. Getting angry over it won't help at all, we just have to wait and see what happens as GoG becomes able to go through negotiations. Also, some older titles might not even run properly/well on doxbox/scummvm no matter how much work you put into them.
GOG is, and always was, a site about DRM Free games.
Because GOG are completely unprincipled left-wing troublemakers.
Because you watch tentacle goat porn.
In their message from a year ago, when facing 2012, they said to stop thinking on "good old games" to simply "gog" because of the addition of new game releases.

Love the interweb. :D
On topic: There is nothing wrong in a new drm-free game. Yes the idea is good old games but to survive on the market you need to evolve. Plus adding some new ones draws player and thus making them aware of the oldies :)
Don't relase some old games: They have to acquire rights to sell those games; if they can, they'll publish them.
Relase new games: Becouse those games are fun, because some people (me included) want them on GOG and because, like any other company, they want to make more moolah!
Damned if you release games, damned if you don't. I guess all that protein rich Christmas food is upsetting peoples' digestion and making them cranky.

Would you be more happy if the list looked like this:

GOG has always promised to add two 'old' games per week and that is exactly what we used to get before they started releasing newer games (with the occasional surprise/double release).

Now, I haven't been policing them, but they said that they would stick to this schedule AND start releasing new games on top of these. So what you are getting is a so to say GOG+.

By the way since I mentioned it, there is a remake of FINAL FANTASY VII that works in newer systems. Thank God I haven't played it for ages.

No, I would be happier if there was a list of 10 old games and only 3 of them were new.
