Shoelip: Actually the joke is that we're saying we can't believe he could possibly be so naive. At least that's what my joke was.

MrEco: Naive about what? You talking about when I said "I hope the game at least covers the finer points of the book"? Because if thats the part your talking about then I wasnt naive at all. I didnt say I thought the game was going to be honest to the book. I said I hoped it would be at least a little bit honest to the book. In fact I dont think it will follow the book at all,(excluding the title) but I do hope it will at least try. Is hope only for the naive?

Oh, ok, see I sort of interpreted it as you saying you have hope that it will cover the "finer points of the book" which is very naive. It might be less confusing to say you want it to, or that you would like it if it did.
Also, it is a third person action game in the strain of God of War. Wishbone is just an ignorant Dane!
I thought mighty Byzantine Empire wiped you little buggers out in a mighty purple swarm!
Oh wait, that's Medieval Total war.

MrEco: Yeah well i'll have you know that I didnt know it was a first person shooter. I thought it was gonna be a third person action game kind of like God of War. Also, read my other comment.

So did playing God of war give you a better understanding of Homer's work? (i hope i got the name right, why has every country in the world their own spelling of historical names)

God of War is about Homer's work? I thought it was an original story vaguely based on Greek mythology. Course I haven't played any of them.

there are some references to Homerian heroes, but yes all in all it's based on the entire Greek mythology, i just used Homer as an example (and because right now i don't recall any other greek writers)

Ok, I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be the same unless the game was called Homer's Odyssey and you played the mighty and fearsome warrior Odysseus (who totally does not use trickery most of the time... or a bow as his primary weapon when he actually needs to fight) and you must descend into Tartarus to rescue your beloved wife.
Then again it still wouldn't be the same because Odysseus is actually a warrior at all, even if not a very strong one.

Well, the trailer didn't contain any in-game footage. Also, what difference does it make? First person, third person, it's a fragfest, not classical literature.

It makes a big difference to anyone that plays action games. That's like saying "Quake, Die by the Sword, what's the difference?"

No. Since the discussion is about how faithfully the game will replicate a piece of classical literature, it's like asking a wine connoisseur whether he prefers Budweiser or Heineken. I could think of a better analogy, but I can't be assed right now.

I see, you're just indignant about being corrected. Okee Dokee, just so long as we can agree that you were wrong. :D

I'd like to know if we can agree that, in this context, it wasn't important?
But yes, of course I was wrong. I was guessing. I didn't check it.

You were wrong on the internet. That's always important. :D

And you carefully avoid answering my question, which would suggest that you're afraid I'm right ;-)

No. I was completely careless in avoiding your question. You're wrong on the internet again!

"Dante Aligheri, the Florentine poet that the game is based upon, has been turned into a “muscular six foot knight with magic powers” to suit the tone of the game."
Errrrrrrrrr
