It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

Ooh, Final Destination and all that :D

Nah, just a coincidence, really. Hopefully.
Next time you will listen to the whole message from one of his evil minions before you hang up the phone. Just think what happened to that poor employee when you ignored his call.
It's likely that your PSU was teetering on the brink of an overload/blowout event. Since your phone is connected to your computer via the network cable, there was probably a minute change in the voltage or vattage that sent the PSU over the aforementioned brink. The PSU would have exploded on its own maybe a minute later if it hadn't been for the call.

This reminds me of something from the X-Files, it is very unfortunate that this happened to you OldFatGuy. But like most people have said it could be the PSU atleast that is what you should hope for because the alternative would be pretty bad. Hopefully the Board and other components are fine and you can just replace the PSU to get it running again. Let us know how it turned and I hope everything works out for you without any major losses.
Ah reminded me of the time when my graphics card went up in flames...
RIP to the machines of past and present that die horrible, flamy deaths.
I don't know if this even belongs in this thread but the first time I ever checked out GOG on Irc, five minutes after I did my computer got hit with that "FBI SHUTTING DOWN YOUR HARDRIVE" warning that is actually a virus which totally shuts down your OS until you can figure out how to get onto a DOS prompt and run a malware scan. I seriously doubt one had anything to do with the other but it still made me scared shitless of IRC. Well that at the attitude of everyone on IRC. :P

What is this IRC you speak of Ye Olde tinyE? :P
It always makes me laugh when people believe that having two unrelated events occur at the same time is any less likely than having two unrelated events occur at different yet specified times. The probabilities are the same.

As for Tiny's comment on IRC, I never used it. I was more an email and ring someone on the land-line if I needed a chat/response person.
I just HATE when people hang up on me!

I only used it eons ago when it first came up. I didn't even know it still existed until someone in here mentioned it and gave me a link. I went there and well, I already told you what happened. :P

Nobody here has indicated such a belief, have they?

OldFatGuy:
I think what happened is that hanging up on the call overloaded your already burdened PC because the data from the phone needed some place to go, and then the PC couldn't handle the extra data and caught fire.

I wouldn't worry, it happens all the time, as per cop dramas on TV which talk about 'puters and such.
