Might be worth splitting the list between Successful, Unsuccessful/Canceled and Active.
Anyone tried the Alcarys Complex demo yet? I'm hesitant to add it but I admit it does look decent.

I'm not big on platformers, but this looks quite atmospheric. I imagine many people would like it.
I would have backed if he hadn't dragged his kids into the Kickstarter pitch. The man is clearly getting in over his head, having a three year old child, with another baby fast coming up. Everyone knows how much work and responsibility comes with that. He probably won't find time to work on a computer game any time soon. I mean, make no mistake the game looks great, but his timing is terrible. I'll probably buy the game when it gets released, but I'm not backing him at this time of his life. O.o
Anybody that's interested in Serpent's Tongue, they just hit the $60k stretcher and backers will get to help with the last round of play testing this May and June.

And it looks good for hitting the $75k goal. Possible one or two goals after that, but those are far less certain as I don't know what they are and I don't know how much will be needed to hit them.

There should be an update sometime tomorrow as well.

I like what I'm seeing, but I'm not sure that $12k is going to be anywhere near enough to cover whatever costs he has left. I could be wrong about that as I'm not sure exactly what he needs to get done to finish.

I can't wait for the $75K stretch goal. Hopefully it means reduced shipping costs so I can get a higher reward tier.

Another one for the list. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/698159145/atari-2600-star-castle

I'm really, really tempted to buy in on this one because it's like ZOMG limited edition Atari cart.

Personally I love it when people on Kickstarter drag their kids into the pitch. It makes me more easily connect with them. While I agree that when the baby is born he will have a hard time continuing with the project (based on my own experience with my second child), he does want that money to hire others to help and buy things which will make developing easier. The game is already looking well developed, and his wife looks supportive, so I think he has a chance to get it done.

I'm not a huge fan of this this type of game, but I think the game looks gorgeous, so I pledged my tentative $1 to show support.

And if you haven't done so, please take a look at Steampunk Holmes. It's an interactive book project which looks well done, and for $9 you get access to all 7 planned books on the web, $8 for the non-interactive e-books, and you even get the first one just for pledging $1. The project is struggling to get funded, and I hope it makes it.

COTD looks very well made. Added, along with Star Castle.

yeah, but 25$ for it is too much.

Bigger games were for 15$, and I'm not sure if I want to pay 25$ for a game that is not made yet.

I'll try giving it a go soon.

I'm confused why the project page says they will add physical item reward tiers when the goal is met. After all if they get added but the goal isn't met....what of it?

So many interesting kickstarters, so little time....

Ugh... from the IAmA:

Question (Endrin):

How do you feel about DLC and microtransactions versus large expansion packs? How will the future of Nekro be effected by the current DLC trends in the industry?

Answer (darkForgeGames):

I really miss large expansion packs. Come to think of it I miss the days when you didn't have to log into your facebook account on the main page of a game to play it. But...times change. And I have to keep up to stay relevant in the industry.

I think micro-transactions are definitely the future of gaming. They allow a much lower bar of entry because games can be given out for free. But they do add a bit of a "someone's trying to sell me something" vibe. I like games that are all encompassing. I don't mind paying more money to know I'm getting a complete product.

The good news for Nekro is we're making a game that lends itself to these DLC trends very nicely. New units, monsters, areas, and armor sets are very easy to separate out and sell as DLC packs.
I've been thinking about backing Nekro, but this doesn't sound like something I want to support.
For me portal is the most interesting project of a game right now on kickstarter, I may write a post about it.

I miss sci fi games with a really deep story. The original one was really awesome, and Rob Swigart is a good writer.

spindown:
Damn. Just damn. Don't get me wrong, it's great they're working on the sort of game that's rarely seen today, and I certainly wouldn't mind paying for an expansion, but I've come to expect marketing decisions like these from AAA publishers. Especially the part where he says "I don't mind paying more money to know I'm getting a complete product", which in another context implies they're not going to ship a complete product, rather than shipping a complete product with fresh, new additions.

I have no issues if the guy does it in the latter type of way, rather than the former. It's all contextual, and sometimes the line blurs between "adding on to the game" and "paying for a patch", but I do wish he'd come clean.
