lowyhong: So have you guys seen this yet?

Sexy as hell! The game, not the developer :P
I'm really tempted by this even though I really shouldn't be playing any games like this and really paying for it.

Did someone say EarthBound?

I'm not sure. I find it kind of worrying/odd that they have not posted a video of people actually playing the game. It could work out fine, but it could also be.. pretty lame.

Aaron86: I thought the Codex hated JRPGs.

Starmaker: It's a Western game made by Western people, therein there is nothing contemptible.
So basically it's not the genre they dislike, they're just racist?
avatar
Aaron86: And I hope they'll be able to update their graphics to look less like edited Earthbound sprites. ;)
And do something about the horrible non-integer nearest neighbour scaling! I hope that's just down to the screenshot being scaled up by someone who doesn't know much about scaling rather than the game actually looking like that. D=

I used to play Magic back during the time just before the 4th edition came out and most people were playing revised decks.

I see two particular problems here that they'll have to deal with. One being the limited number of players and the other being the balance. It took Wizards of the coast basically Alpah, Beta, Unlimited before they got things mostly worked out properly for Revised and if you've seen the cards from the earlier editions you can see all they went through in order to remedy the play balance problems that they accidentally unleashed by not considering every single possible combination of cards.

The balance issues would be less of an issue with a computer card game, which is probably what they should go for with the first try so that they can patch things the way that Blizzard has to fix balance problems before committing to a paper set.

Yeah I know what you mean. I hope they send a prototype copy to The Dice Tower to review before the KS ends.

Question: is there any kickstarters that did not get made even though it succeeded in reaching its goal in donations?

the reason I say this is because I'm worried that this kickstarter game won't get made.

Are their any Kickstarter CRPG projects which are going to use the d20 system/OGL? That's something I could definitely get behind.
The Dinocalypse Kickstarter is over (I still consider it the best value for money Kickstarter I've seen), but I found another nice fiction project to back: Steampunk Holmes. It's an interactive novel featuring Sherlock Holmes in a cyberpunk setting, and looks and sounds pretty cool.

The manuscript e-book is available to all backers ($1 and up), $9 gets you web versions of all 7 planned books, and $29 and up add iPad and audiobook versions of the first book, a print version (and other stuff) at $99, and, well, if you're considering paying more than this already just go ahead and check it out.

Don't. d20 kickstarters tend to fail, sometimes after funding. And even if they won't, anything that is written by a sick fuck who wrote an adventure about ghostbusting Holocaust victims hardly counts as a success.
