Ippatsu: ...more jump and run. Project GIANA (SISTERS), awesome!

I do hope they will not be deleted, as the project set up is against the rules of Kickstarter (They have have set up the project with theire german address, but in the rules it is stated, that you need to have a US Address, because of legal reasons).

Will monitor it, as would love to see the Sisters again :) ARMN (<- GS Insider *gg*)

I'm sure they just put their German location in the user page, and have a US address for the business side. Quite a few projects show locations outside the US.

Crea - 2D sandbox RPG, highly moddable, pretty

"To give us this modding flexibility, the game's content scripts are Python code, which is a scripting language that can handle real game logic. We've exposed the entire game engine to Python, which means that new content can make meaningful and unique changes to gameplay. The base game content is also a mod itself, so it is fully accessible to anyone who wants to view and modify it."

I'm sold. Plus I really want to sneak Purple-haired Girl in there.
OUYA now offers a "special edition" brown console. For $140.

I'm out.
Ouya has also broken the $6 million barrier. The world is going mad.

Wormhole Ventures - Inspired by Starways and M.U.L.E. (Aug 21)
Hi, there. I am the Lead Developer of Wormhole Ventures. I also am obviously not very good at marketing. When you thought it was miscategorized was that because, we had a photo early on in the kickstarter information of my boardgame which was partial inspiration for the project? I did add new screenshots to the project yesterday. I was thinking the order of images might confuse some people.

Anyway, I just saw your post today and thought I'd ask that question. We actually have not gotten any feedback on the project, so I am reaching out where I can to see if I can find anything out.

dwinblood: Hi, there. I am the Lead Developer of Wormhole Ventures...
Welcome to the forums, Dwinblood.

Sorry for the boo-boo (made when the page only had the boardgame picture). The screenshots added since do clarify it. If you're looking for further suggestions, I'd suggest shrinking the Starways/M.U.L.E. photos (perhaps have them side-by-side with a note that they're not included in the pledge rewards). Given M.U.L.E.'s age, a link to the its Wikipedia entry to explain what it was may be a good idea.

I would also suggest highlighting if your game is going to be DRM-free (i.e. can be installed/played without Internet access) which will be significant to many members of this forum.

Aside from that, there have been a number of recent KS failures for space sims recently (see Spacesector.com: Kickstarters That Made It and … Didn’t Make It for more) including Skyjacker most recently. Your project is asking for far less ($16,670 versus their $200,000) so it would seem to have a far better chance, but publicity from specialist sites (like RockPaperShotgun and SpaceSector) seems to be the key element especially now that KS has lost its novelty for much of the media.

Having an alpha build may be a plus, but it does need good documentation. If people can't get into it easily, it could even be a hindrance (though foreign users should find it more fun thanks to your use of Google Translate - someone used it to translate into Russian the term "kick ass" and it came back with "punch of donkey"...).

Finally, good luck!

Now back to highlighting other projects:

Board:
Evil Baby Orphanage (Aug 14)
The Great Heartland Hauling Co: A card game for 2-4 truckers (Sep 7) Car Wars fans please note, this includes the town of Midville, but no combat...
RPG:
Dungeonaday.com: The Original Online Megadungeon! (Aug 26)
Accessories:
Eternity Dice: forged from lava (Sep 29) Guaranteed to stun your gaming colleagues - if thrown hard enough!

Oculus Rift - developer kit for a virtual reality headset. Endorsements by Gabe Newell, John Carmack and others in the pitch video. It has received almost $700,000 from over 2,800 backers in just 14 hours. Sounds very interesting, but it's only targeted at developers for the time being.

Why do these guys even need money? If the developers are so excited, they should be easily able to shell out 250K for it. I mean for Gabe Newell and Valve this is probably pocket money.

That's not the way true believing sounds, it's more like: "Meh, let the fans pay and let's see what happens. And obviously invester thinkg the same, well VR is scorched earth..

So it seems like this may not be: the next best thing...

This virtual reality thing seems far too good to be true. I'm not sure if it would even reach our lowest expectations.

Would we actually be able to lift our hand in real life and see our hand in-game? Or would it just be like a screen pressed up against your eyes? It sounds like something that could wreck your eyes too.

Was interested at first, but $15 for an episodic game? No thanks.

I think the kickstarter campaign seems to aim more for game developers rather than player because all of the rewards give you a developer kit instead of the "commercial" version which is nowhere to be seen. This may be a way to lure indie game developers or smaller developers so they have a good amount of games for the launch. But I don't really know.

Anyway the project looks great but I won't pledge when there isn't even a date for release.

I think it's suppose to be used in combination with a pad because it seems to record the head movement only.

The most I'm willing to pay for 640x800 per eye is $50. Well, maybe $100 if it's really good. That's one of the things which has always killed VR, the ridiculously low resolutions. I don't know, maybe the retail version will have a higher resolution.
