I am in need of a new mouse as my current one has begun double and triple clicking instead of single clicking. I like very precise movements and main buttons that will last a long time. I don't need a ton of buttons as my left hand is very skilled on the keyboard. Please share your preference and reasons why.

Logitech and costs below $10

Logitech MX518. Love the weight, feel, and I find it has just the right amount of buttons for my tastes. I also loathe wireless mice. Unfortunately, I believe it's EOL, so you can't order it any more (although you may find a few places still have stock). Can't recall the model number that replaced it.

Logitech. A cheap one. Actually there's not really much choice aside from Logitech/Microsoft & Razor for branded ones.. plus all the cheapie no name sorts.

Went through 3 Razer Deathadders in the space of a month, shocking build quality. That was the older model though, things might have improved since.

I have a Logitech G5 and it does what it's supposed to, no complaints here.

Agree, the Naga is also probably good if you're a MMO gamer.

I switched to trackballs 21 years ago and never looked back.

Kensington used to be better, but Logitech trackballs can be used without having to fiddle with them continually.

Logitech Trackman Marble, especially for lefties.

Logitech G5 was pretty good until the mouse wheel started failing. It did last several years though.
Right now I'm using a Steel Series Kinzu and I'm liking it a lot. I had to get used to its smaller size and light weight but it didn't take long.

I have been using this mouse (Logitech Trackman) for years. I love it - it's cured my tendonitis, and it's perfect for everything I do. I have never had to replace it, and I've dropped it dozens of times.

I just got $41 credit at OfficeMax, so I think it's finally time to upgrade to this mouse (Logitech M570) for me, at least, so I have a mousewheel again :D

Seconded. It's reliable, weighs just right, and has just a few extra buttons that come in very handy. The shape (ergonomics) is top class to me, and any other mouse leaves me feeling clumsy and unsatisfied.

Currently using the CM Storm Spawn mouse and I absolutely love it. It is a bit on the smaller side but fits my claw grip pretty well, and overall it has been very responsive and customizable. This is coming off using a Steelseries Ikari Optical, where two of them broke twice within months of each other (one was a replacement by the company). Avoid those at all cost.

Logitech mice are the only other ones I can even bother recommending at this point. Everything else seems cheaply made or gimmicky.

I have had this Logitech G5 for 7 years or so, and it is still working flawlessly. It has gotten a lot of use in those 7 years, since 60% of the paint has been rubbed of by my palm and the fabric covering the cord is frayed nearly completely off in certain places from rubbing against my desk and/or keyboard drawer. I really like being able to customize the balance and heft with the modifiable weight cartridge, as well; other mice probably have this feature now, but it was a pretty new gimmick when I bought this mouse in 2005 (give or take a year).

My absolute favorite was the Microsoft Sidewinder. I had it up until this year when i was forced to replace it. Basically, after so many years, some of the rubber/plastic on the side where the thumb rests started to flake/peel off whenever I touched it.

Replaced it with a Cyborg RAT 7, which has been a nifty mouse, though it has some laser issues, so I might replace it with a Razer or an MX518. My issues with Razer is they are designed for claw grip, and I find that incredibly uncomfortable.
