TheCheese33: I feel like the Internet is being invaded by equestrians (or whatever the hell they call themselves). Every forum, every comments section, every EVERYTHING has some person with a My Little Pony avatar, and people talk avidly about the show.

Am I missing some crucial piece of the puzzle here? What has drawn so many people to Friendship is Magic? Is it ironic love? Or do they actually enjoy this show about magical animated ponies? It almost seems like it's a contagious outbreak. I'm scared that if I end up downloading and watching the free episode on iTunes, my avatar will suddenly change into a pony everywhere I go, and I will start eagerly discussing this product of the dark arts.

I desperately tried to find the joke in all of this. I fear that it may be no joke at all.
I guess my avatar next time I change it will be of MLP.

Krypsyn: Hahaha, this is really a fad or subculture now (or whatever you want to call it)? I remember stealing my younger sister's My Little Ponies back in the 80s and teasing her with them (I was and adolescent, she was around 6 or 7 :P).

My recollection of My Little Pony is that it was a show for girls, like Gem and the Holograms, She-Ra, and the Care Bears. Young boys watched Voltron, Thundercats, He-Man, G.I. Joe, or the like. But, hey, to each their own, I guess. I suppose compared to the garbage I see on TV now, My Little Ponies would be a step up for girls AND boys :P.
OMG, I grew up in France watching the same things!! I was a huge fan of He-man (yeah maybe a little of She-Ra, too) and Thundercats!!

Am I THAT old, already??

TheCheese33: Well... That certainly was something else. I really don't know what else to say. It was a kind of cute overload, but I survived. Except that intro song is so cringe-worthy.

I can also definitely see the Powerpuff influence. Very similar art style and type of humor. The show seems decent, but since I would have to pay to watch beyond Episode 1, I'm not sure if I will be continuing this show.
The entire thing is on youtube for free, in HD or whateva.

PhoenixWright: A quick look at Wikipedia informs me that the woman who developed the show was heavily involved with The Powerpuff Girls and Fosters Home for w/e the rest of the title is.

Based on that alone I'd be tempted to watch an episode. It might be great, in all seriousness. I think you should watch it first though and let us know.
My Little Pony is old, my little sister played with them. My daughter plays with them. Girls loves horses, seriously the statistics about just how many girls love horses more than any other animal are jaw-dropping.

Also, The Power Puff Girls and Fosters were both awesome. I just thought I'd throw that in there:)
Twilight Sparkle is one sexy pony!

She's like a four legged Blossom.

I'd like to bend her over in the stable and fuck her till her eyes bleed.

Yeah, I remember it from way back. I didn't mean to give Lauren Faust all the credit, although anyone who can put out a high-quality show based on MLP surely deserves much of it.

I just watched the first episode and I don't know about it, but the two-part format might be making it drag a bit in the beginning, so I'm guessing that seeing a standard episode is a must for passing judgement on the show.

I'm still impressed with Adventure Time, that show has me laughing almost every episode. Other than it, I don't really know of any shows I can stand on children's networks right now.

EDIT: And good god HBH, you just made my eyes bleed.

There's a great interview clip where Christian Bale starts singing the Powerpuff Girls theme song because he can.

Also, Christian Bale is fucking insane in the best way possible.

Markie Mark and Christian Bale in the same room, I wonder if there was testosterone residue all over everything when they left, lol.

Yeah he is insane, apparently, as you say, in a good way.

Man, was that hard to find. :/
That's the one I found. And it is in not in HD. This thread about friendship is built on nothing but lies!

Yeah, everyone i know that is within 5 years of my age seems to have watched the Thundercats and loved it. As for watching She-Ra, that is a toss up. I seem to recall watching it a bit and not hating it, but I preferred He-Man much more; I had a serious boy-crush on Evil-Lyn.

Dude, I turn 35 in exactly a week, and I have been asking myself that question more and more. :)

Yeah, I am curious myself. They more people talk about how awesome MLP is, the more I have doubts that were are speaking of the same cartoons. The Powerpuff Girls are/were awesome; some of the tongue-and-cheek irony and symbolism in those cartoons is dead on. However, I don't remember thinking too highly of My Little Ponies.
