Something can't be "the most unique". Either it's unique or it isn't.

If you mean "most unusual" then Planescape: Torment. Also the best.

The most unique rpg (should we attempt to coin the term 'drpg' for 'Digital RPG'?) I played - certainly at the time - was Persona 3. Expanding your own outlook on life by delving into the lives of those around you was enlightening, and the intertwining of all the mechanics is masterful to the point of headache-inducing. I also liked that the social interactions didn't advance by you trying to change or 'improve' the people you were talking to - they advanced by you showing you understood them, even if you personally didn't agree.

Predictably it's another Planescape: Torment here, and unlikely to be toppled because it's brilliant and it was the first RPG I ever played.

But then there's a lot of renowned RPGs I've yet to experience, like Arcanum (my next game to start :), Anachronox, Fallout and others that should each be pretty unique and brilliant. All now owned, I just need to find a quiet few weeks ;)

Now, that WAS something, wasn't it? I remember how happy I was when I realized that Harmondale monster respawned. I gathered all goblins in one place (seriously, I was flying all over the map and attracting them) and then brutally murdered them with a sturburst spell. Armageddon was also very nice spell. I was proud because I found a famous Armageddon loophole myself: you can cast this spell only 4 times a day but you can wait until midnight (but without resting!) and you can cast it again. Your characters will become weak but you can remove this condition with your cleric and wait for another midnight and cast it yet again (and again and again and again if needed). And since you are not resting monsters cannot heal themselves. In this way you can easily clear Land of Giants (swarms of titans, dragons and devils) and you will get enormous amount of experience. Not to mention gold and artifacts from looting their bodies.

You mean as opposed to 'arpg', 'Analogue RPG', the one where you take on a role in RL and try to gather analogue experience, improve your analogue stats and romance analogue people at analogue parties? Ugh. ;)

That sounds awesome! I didn't play MM7 as much as MM6 (like, 1-2 playthroughs as opposed to 9-10), but now I feel like re-installing it just to try this trick! Still, it's never as fun as actually watching them die. When in MM6 you get powerful enough to take the swarms of dragons in Dragonsand... ahhh....

Course it´s not right:
C-RPG is Compute-RPG without a "r" in the name.
And it was chosen to get away from A (ction)-RPGs and B(attle)- RPGs.
Some folks say that A-RPG<B-RPG<C-RPG, but I can´t really go with this at all.

Examples for A-RPGs: Jade Empire, Venetica, Divinity II, Alpha Protocol, Mass Effect,...
Examples for B-RPGs: Gothic, Risen, Witcher, ...
Examples for C-RPGs: Wizardry, Might and Magic, Torment, Baldurs Gate, Drakensang, Dragon Age, ect.

BTW:
In my opinion Hack and Slays like Diablo or Titan Quest technically aren´t RPGs at all...
