Interstate 76 runs, Blood for many people wouldn't even run for 20 seconds before crashing. I had issues with both, but i76 was at least playable for portions of the game, whereas Blood 2 wasn't.

AFAIK, Blood 2 still hasn't been fixed and likely never will be.

I think the problem in both cases is probably a buggy graphics implementation. I had the problems with Blood 2 only go away when I switched from nVidia to AMD for the graphics.

I guess I was being a bit dramatic as now that I remember if I turned off the graphics acceleration and lowered the screen to the minimum it would run fine for a while. But it's something that should have had a warning and unfortunately I don't know of any source ports for Blood2.

I know of one extremely poorly selling game on GOG and it's been here for years.

Lithtech has the ugliest Software mode ever, I avoid it at all costs. Also I say it works fine now, but it's so unpredictable, I bet if I tried to play it it would crash or something, I haven't tried it on this gfx card.. :S

I just remember setting the Client.exe and Blood2.exe to use one core and have matching compatibility options seemed to really reduce crashing. Then either picking your native resolution or a low resolution like 800x600 also helped. I was actually able to explore the levels and look around. It was nice.

Sometimes when the game crashed it would tell me it was due to a file located in the folder named AM18.dll. So I tried something out of curiosity. If you own Shogo, which uses the same engine but is MUCH more stable, you'll see that same file in the folder, so I backed up Blood 2's and replaced it with Shogo's. Never had a crash due to that file again. I believe that file is used for the music. Def something to try if you can.

I also fixed a weird crash where I'd sink into the ground and crash by doing a registry clean, which was just bizarre. Fucking game.

Why would they remove it? Not to mention the issues of breaking contracts, the sales would have to be close to nothing to be less than the cost of hosting a few-hundred mb file and it's gamecard page.

Also, what's the deal with Septerra these days? The company who made it (Valkyrie Studios) no longer exists.

In several cases it was made impossible for people to purchase some games anymore (for example Colin McRae Rally 2005). If you have purchased the game you can still download it, but there is no guarantee this will be the case with every game.

Games are not removed for reasons of bad sales. They are however removed - i.e. the possibility to purchase them - for licensing issues. It was not yet the case but it is theoretically possible to completely remove games, so a backup of the installer files always is recommended (also for the reason shown below).

In at least one case (Realms of Arkania) a game that is still sold was downgraded for licensing issues. GOG did not have the rights for the CD version and had to replace it with the floppy version (or maybe only the music, I don't know). In that case unless you still have an old installer download it is impossible to gain that game version.

Collectors like me usually want the whole series. No matter how much you complain about FG, I'll most probably buy at some point, just because I have (and want) the Gothic games released before it.

Who knows, maybe at some point I will even buy Gothic 4! (albeit can't from GOG)
