Not really. Right now, you could have the entire GoG catalog for about three grand.

Is that it? That button would get clicked at least a dozen or more times during this sale, IMO... especially if the non-sale price is like 10k+. A dozen clicks during sale frenzies, half a dozen when sales are not on.... when you consider that infamous iPhone app "I am Rich" that did nothing but show a glowing red gem on the screen and cost $1,000 and that 8 people bought it within a month before it was pulled from the store... Consider that mobile freemium developers target rich whales in spending thousands of dollars on their crappy "skinner-box" mobile games... it could actually happen if it were simply made available.

I'm not saying that all rich people do, but some like to flaunt it. I say let those suckers do so and the rest of us reap the rewards.

Regardless something i've been thinking; Since you can only play one game at a time (unless you have like 8 eyes and 8 hands), then only one game is active at a time. With only one game active at a time, in a 500 game catalog (just to be simple) then only 0.2% of your games can be played at the same time, and at least a third less if you do any sleeping whatsoever (so 0.067%).

When you start getting into these numbers it starts sounding really really stupid about trying to limit someone from playing a game through DRM when already the likelihood of them playing it is so low when there's so many other accessible sources...

Just so you know why i have this half unrelated rant, I recall seeing in the EULA for M$'s products (back in 1998?) which stated you only have a license to actively use it on one computer at a time. I remember reading that for MS-Office/MS-Works; It explicitly stated 'you can install this on multiple computers (like at home and at work) so long as only one is active at any given time'... i may be wrong word for word but that was the gist.

This is still part of the EULA for the GIS software I use at work. It allows you to have it installed on 2 machines with 1 license, but it actually checks periodically for overlap. It's designed to let you use it on a field laptop + a workstation.

Fun... Seriously it needs to go out of practice. Unless it's some specialized software that's only for businesses and hobbyists (Say, a 3D printer program). Otherwise a dad who gets Office on good faith from Microsoft, then can't use it at his business because his children are at home writing up their reports for school involving the pollination of flowers and complicated words like Photosynthesis.

Of course in the past this wasn't a problem, online wasn't the norm, and programs didn't check to see if you were following those clauses. And although my dad had 1 license for Windows 95/98, you can bet it was installed on every machine in the house.

I missed out on Colin McRae Rally 2005, ObsCure, Republic: The Revolution and TOCA Race Driver 3 before I joined. The only game I don't own that still is in the catalog is Divinity: Original Sin and its DLC. I lacked the funds when it launched and I just never got around to it. Now its been out long enough that I'm worried about buying it at full price and then seeing it on sale shortly after.

Since we're talking about games that have been removed, what about that Age of Wonders 3 preorder only DLC? If you didn't preorder before, there is absolutely no way you can ever get that DLC right now on all platforms, and the creator has no plans to release it as stand-alone DLC, but might make it part of a bundle. Oh, and this isn't a rights issue either, they're withholding the DLC just because.

You should have had another (multiple) tab open to buy it as a gift too - That way you could help those that are nearing the full collection :)
