DaCostaBR: I guessed from the title that this thread would be inspired by the Escapist article by MovieBob, but I haven't read it. Nowadays I avoid giving that guy any views. So I can't speak to the what's in the links you provided.
Still, my opinion on Ridley Scott is that he doesn't seem to do very well chasing his past successes. Robin Hood seemed to want to be some kind of medieval version of Gladiator, and Prometheus fashioned itself as an Alien prequel, and both ended up feeling a bit misguided in their efforts. Perhaps if he focused on something completely new again he'd fare better.
I know Moviebob has been pissing me off lately, especially when it comes to some moives Still, my opinion on Ridley Scott is that he doesn't seem to do very well chasing his past successes. Man of Steel was not that great but it certainly is not the worse Superman thing ever, that prize goes to Superman At Eartth's End.
And I like Zack Snyder's style. And I cannot wait to see Dawn of Justice. Even if it ends up lackluster the action is gonna be awesome.
But this movie (and the amazing spiderman 2) are the only few times I agree with him.

superman doesnt like killing but he does kill when there is no choice at all anymore
and zod left him no choice in man of steel

But anyway I will say this though.
Man of Steel spawned a new generation of people who now hates Superman. The same people who grew up with Nolan's Batman who thinks Batman is the ultimate hero that can tackle anything if he had time to plan and he has not superpowers making him more relatable :P
Yeah a man who has an IQ of 300, a billionaire with his own multinational company, who trained in various forms of combat all over the world, is certainly more relateable to the common man than Superman :P

If he's so smart and wonderful, how come he can't remember where he was last night? (Arkham Origins lost save file after 10 hours, still sour and mad, don't mind me) Weird, eh? You buy a LOTR trilogy, you get three movies; you buy an Alien trilogy, you get two movies. The movie industry is too complicated for me.

Robocop 3 at least was fun.
Also about Batman I have not played Arkham Origins. But have you seen Batman's Profile in Arkham Asylum. Detail all of his skills? He is Superman in his own way.

clark didnt had many choices in how to deal with zod
either imprisoment or kil him
and we all know how well imprisoment works in comics and movies ( ie they always escape )
man of steel has major problems but clark killing zod is not one of them

even weirder is how you get 3 movies with the hobbit instead of 2 Elmofongo: I thought Robocop 2 is the worse of all (and I stiill do think its the worse even with the latest reboot)
Robocop 3 at least was fun.
i liked robocop 2 for what it was certainly not great but better then 3 Robocop 3 at least was fun.
3 felt like a cartoon complete with cartoonish villians buffonish henchmen and an annoying kid sidekick
hooray !
and there was a distinct lack of weller and allen
however robocop 2 has problems too like how they dropped the ball with the main character at the end of 1 murphy has reasserted himself and in 2 we are pretty much back to square one
the ocp bureaucraut is almost cartoony in his offensiveness
the movie is meanspirited and quite violent
but it has gorgeosu stop motion special effects
i generally like to pretend that there is no robocop 3 though

snowkatt: and zod made it clear he would not stop he would kill everybody on earth ( another thing from the comics a parallel universe zod with two other henchmen has actually killed their whole earth they were unrepentant and would do it again which is why clark broke out the kryptonite ) clark didnt had many choices in how to deal with zod
