darthspudius: It was not a prequel to alien and he said that himself. A fun little thing that fans pretend to ignore.

I have liked a lot of his more recent movies and I like the look of his new one. I have also seen a good number of positive reviews about it.

Oh I also think Blade Runner is over hyped shite! :P

Elmofongo: "Hands raised" I thought so aswell. I saw both the theatrical cut and the first director's cut and I still got nothing out of it.

Everyone says the final cut is the best even though it is essentially the theatrical cut with the added eyeball gauging.
I love the look of the movie, it's a stunning looking film but it is soooooooo dull. All these different editions don't really do anything for the film.

snowkatt: i wasnt really dissapointed by prometheus but i didnt see it as a prequel to alien
i saw it as a paralell story that could possibly be set in the alien story

because if you pay attention you will see that it doesnt lien up with alien at all it awnsers a few questions but opens up a whole lot of new ones

the way ..whats her name died was utterly stupid though
swerve to the left or to the right !

fans ignoring something that doesnt jive with their "logic" ?
incoyable !
For every good movie he makes at least one bad movie and two decent ones.
I give him the most credit for showing us some of the best cinematography put on a screen though.
it's Hollywood, so what do you expect? Frankly, I didn't care much about most of Ridley Scott's films after Alien & Blade Runner. Most of his films are filmed beautifully but they lack content, like most Hollywood films.

There is no such thing when scifi is involved. Especially when they're as mind numbing and as annoying as Alien/terminator fans!

MadalinStroe: And speaking of Prometheus, he has repeatedly refused to create a director's cut of the movie, even though there are an additional 35 minutes of footage on the blu-ray, that apparently explains everything, EVERYTHING, that was awkward and ham-fisted in the original theatrical cut.
Which Blu-ray version is that? Because on the one I have, it's still not explained. Don't get me wrong, I really like the movie, but I still see a lot of plot holes, ham-fistery, and general WTFness on the Blu-ray version.

I said "apparently explains everything" because I got this information after searching online, while trying to understand what happened with Prometheus. I thought the movie had potential, but I agree that the theatrical release of Prometheus is dreadful. However after experiencing the abortions that were the theatrical releases of Robin Hood and Kingdom of Heaven, but later immensely enjoying the director's cuts of those movies, I have high hopes the director's cut of Prometheus.

Well, not to start that argument here, but you have to understand how completely the studio killed that movie long before it ever got made. In its early forms, it was looking fascinating, and the talent assigned to it was great. By the time Fincher got involved, the ship was already sinking. He completely disavowed the film, which is a shame. It's still pretty terrible, but you can see the bones of what it could have been, hidden in there.

Alien IV had a similar treatment. I mean, they took a Joss Whedon script, and gave it to a director who didn't speak English! It makes me crazy just thinking about it.

Oops, derail. Don't mind me.

i will only say that i like alien 3 for what it is
a wholly unique movie that could only work with the xenophobe

it coudl have been much much better yes but its still better then that absolute trainwreck that is 4
and at least it provides an ending for ripley and the aliens
Black Hawk Down was terribly sh*t though. That's the kind of propaganda movies we associate with other regimes. Usually American movies are a little more subtle, as it's more effective.
