Just wondering about games that you never even knew existed from years ago that you have bought and though wow what an awesome game.

I have personally been gifted Soulbringer (thankyou so much prakaa who done a giveaway when asking for recommendations if I remember rightly) which I absolutely love. I have lost so many hours to it over the past few weeks, literally just got used to the combat and starting to make headway. Thing is I didnt even know this game existed until GOG actually released it. Visually the game looks pretty good for its age, granted the characters look a little weird during the cutscenes but outside in the snow at the start of the game, it looks freakin awesome for a game that came out in 2000.

Outcast, granted I knew this game existed, gojays gifted me it when it was on sale the other weekend (eternally grateful :) ). Story for me behind this one was I bought it in the big A4 box for my brother for his birthday the year of release. Now normally I would install it and have a mess around to see if I wanted it before giving him the game. This time though I didnt get a chance to play it and have wanted the game for so many years. Thing is though, when you want something so bad and wait so long it can often turn out to be a dud or you dont want to play it. Thing is though, Outcast is an amazing game, another one I have been losing sleep over. Voxels were supposed to be the new thing in visuals but never took off really. It still looks damned good for its age without the high res fix.

Final one I really want to mention is Lionheart : Legacy of the Crusader. I fixed my mothers laptop for her a few days back and she said get yourself a game for this. Now normally I would have grabbed something cheap off Steam, in this case though I went through the GOG games and thought it looked interesting (Strange how I am now wanting more classic games than the new stuff available). Wow, what an amazing game. I had no idea Black Isle had created this game. I just though they were famous for Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale and Planescape (finished all 5 games in the past and they are epic on such a HUGE level!). I just love the setting with the alternate history, the visuals with projected shadows, variation in enemies from the start, having the option to do the combat live like in Diablo so not having to pause for thought and manouveres.

GOG is a great way to find those hidden gems that would have been lost forever and forgotten.

So what has everyone else discovered here at GOG that has went right to the top of their awesome list regardless of age?
That I've bought? Alien Shooter and Cannon Fodder. Now that I think about it, those two have a lot in common. : ) I wouldn't label either as great titles, but they are fun.

There are a whole mess of titles I'd never heard of, and a whole bunch more that had simply faded from memory over the years. Then GOG releases it and I get this "Oh, yeeeaaahh" feeling of flashback.
Most of the games I have bought on GOG were games I had not heard about before they were released on here. There are a few exceptions but I'd never heard of MDK, Sacrifice, Outcast or Planescape Torment for instance.
Outcast

It's one title that I had no idea even existed before I came to this website, I'm glad GOG gave me the opportunity to experience this great game
Games that are on GOG but that I had not heard of before I joined (and that I have bought/were free):

Games that are on GOG but that I had not heard of before I joined (and that I have not bought):

Sounds like you struck gold with GOG then, I own and love all of those games, apart from MDK, which I don't own, but have played in the past and enjoyed.

Cannon Fodder

I grew up using Macs and never heard of it, but it is an awesome game.
I recently just discovered 'Realms of the Haunting'... the nonsensical sounding title threw me for a loop, but after giving it a quick 'Google' I decided to drop the 5-6 bucks on it and see what it was all about.
So far it's excellent. I keep asking myself why I'd never heard of it before...

I had also never heard of One Unit Whole BLOOD before. I like what I've played of that one as well, but for some reason I suddenly had problems getting it to run properly and I just haven't had a chance to troubleshoot my installation.

I'm sure there are at least a few others...

The best thing about GOG is how it reintroduces the old classics and semi-forgotten games to new audiences. It's great.
There aren't many games that I'd never heard of on GOG. I'll be honest, when I discovered this site, I spent a good ten minutes going through the games list, squeeing with delight at all these games that I'd always wanted to play, but had never gotten the chance.

However, I was very happy to get a chance to play 'Sanitarium'. I remember a fairly positive review from years ago in the now defunct magazine PC Gaming World, so it was one of the first games I bought. And I have to say, I really enjoyed it. I felt the ending was a trifle... weak, but everything else was damn good.

One thing I have realised, though, is that it was most definitely a good thing that I never played some of these games 'back in the day'. Because I know for a fact that my younger self would not have had the patience to play through 'Sanitarium', or 'Baldur's Gate', or 'Fallout'. He certainly wouldn't have enjoyed 'Planescape: Torment' as much as I am at the moment. He was a simpler beast, bless him :-)
The very first game I bought here is responsible for me still being here. Original War is the only game I've ever given a proper review to, I bought it on a sale after being a member for a while and not really buying anything. I read what the game was about without ever having heard of it, bought it for cheap and was quite impressed at the level of realistic gameplay it had (even though the story takes you to the distant past). I've still got McMillan as my avatar because of that game.
outcast, which has been mentioned numerous times, and one unit.whole blood. while i have heard about it before, i didnt quite think itll be somewhat special. but now, i love it more than duke nukem 3d. oh and lets not forget disciples, which has taken up far too much of my time.
For me, the one I hadn't heard of was Nox. Good game and I had a ton of fun with it.

I'd heard of Arcanum before it appeared on GOG, but I'd never played it. Another great game.
Psychonauts! - may have come out after I stopped paying proper attention though
Everyone heard about Beyond Good & Evil, the critically acclaimed game whose sale figures were disappointing. A good game if you listen to players who played it. The kind of game whose name is recurrently reappearing once in a while on the internet.

I finally played it here. And it was good
Planescape: Torment

I've heard the name before, but never bothered to figure out what exactly it is. I've to say, I've only played a few hours (trying to clear my backlog a bit from all those indie games), but I love the attention of detail.
Gabriel Knight I.

I never really liked "point and clicks" and especially one without humor seemed to be a waste of time.

Boy was I wrong. Excellent game!
