1) Were tricked into buying, and they were for Steam (retail)?
2) You preferred their Steam version?
3) You had no choice, but to buy their Steam release, just because they were universally exclusive only to Steam?
4) You would forsake Steam, and repurchase them in GoG, or elsewhere (name the service), if they were available?

Just curious. Be you a steam user, fanboy, sworn enemy, or simply indifferent to all hot air around "steams", simply answer, if you will... I myself...

1) Shogun 2 total war gold edition, Fear 2. Bought them in retail, did not know they were only for steam; retail vendor did not tell me, even if i asked them, if said games had any sort of DRM, or third party service involved into playing them.
2) None, none at all. Always get mine either in boxed retail, or in GoG.
3) Grrr. Fear 2 DLC (never saw a retail release), and Naruto Full Burst (those games are nowhere else available, besides/without steam. Grrr. But excluding those, i never bought anything else there.
4) Guilty Gear series, Fear Series, Naruto series. I would gift my Steam account to a random stranger immediately and proceed into buying them elsewhere, if and when they ever got available for purchase elsewhere...
1) Not tricked. I got Skyrim Legendary Edition as a present.
3) A lot of people warmly recommended Spec Ops - The Line to me. I'm still struggling.
4) Well, it's only Skyrim for the time being, and yes I would re-buy it from GOG. There are quite a lot of titles that would buy from here - were they here. DX:HR comes to mind.
Okay I have no clue what the hell this thread is about.
1. None.
2. Quite a few.
3. A couple, Deus Ex is the only one that comes to mind.
4. Not that many, unless they had really cool extras or were hugely discounted.
On steam I own :

Half-Life 2
Portal 1+2
Penny Arcade series
Mark of the Ninja
Specs Ops The Line
Borderlands
Sniper Elite V2 (free)
Red Orchestra 2 (free)
Aliens versus Predator (the not-so-good recent-ish one)
Vampires: Bloodlines

The AvP and Orange Box Set (HL2, Portal 1) were bought on retail. The others are exclusives. I'd re-buy them all if they were DRM-free on GOG.
Cheesecake is awesome...
1. None
2. Retail is kind-of dead here (exorbitant prices, little variety), so digital services are a god-send.
3. I had to get on steam: F3, F: NV, Civilization Series, XCOM: EU+EW, Skyrim, Monkey Island 1&2, KOTOR 1&2
4. Probably wouldn't re-buy as my gaming budget is overstretched as it is. But if given the choice I'd clearly prefer the GOG version for a game that I don't own yet.
2) I don't prefer any Steam version of a game but when a bundle is a good deal I usually don't have a problem with Steam.
4) I was away from gaming for a while and I did not know about GOG and very little about Steam. I bought Thief and Deus Ex in Steam before I knew about GOG. When I saw them in a sale here I purchased them.

OP is not liking steam.
