My favorite PC game genre is the first-person adventure. Myst and the Journeyman Project are some of my favorite series of all time. But I noticed that it seems after you get passed the major releases you hear about, it becomes really hard to find games. So I thought I'd ask if anyone knows any great first-person point-and-click adventure games. I'll list the ones I know about, just so you guys know what I've played.

Myst series (Love)
The Journeyman Project series (Love)
Dark Fall series (loved the first two, haven't gotten into the third yet)
Scratches - Playing now
Barrow Hill - Bought, haven't played yet
The X Files - Bought, looks great
Tex Murphy series - Liked Mean Streets, thought UAKM and TPD were ok but not great
Return to Mysterious Island - Liked
Schizm: Mysterious Journey - Bought, haven't played it very much.
These are the ones that I can think of right now. Anyone know any others that are great? Thanks!
The Last Express seems to be missing from your list. It's a really good game, you have to play it if you're a fan of first-person adventures.
Thanks spindown! I bought it but haven't played it so I will defiantly check it out!
Amnesia if you don't mind getting scared a bit.
and [url=http://www.mobygames.com/game/death-gate]Death Gate. Unfortunately they are not on GOG yet.
You should have mentioned you dislike gore, because this:

Is not for you. No way. I'm stoic and it managed to make me vomit a little on the inside. You should avoid Penumbra series as well.

Both those games are completely awesome. But both are really psychologically horrific.
Rhiannon: Curse of the Four Branches
Play Barrow Hill. If you like it chances are you'll like Rhiannon. The story is Celtic themed like Barrow Hill although it's a completely different story.

Darkness Within: In Pursuit of Loath Nolder
Just like Scratches it's a nod to Lovecraft in terms of story and settings, definitely one of my favourite adventures. It can be a bit hard since in order to advance you really need to understand what's going on. You have to highlight relevant bits of text on journals, books, etc, and then combine those with thoughts, clues, characters, etc, to advance the investigation. Lots of reading to do but since you're a fan of Myst and DF i know that won't be a problem.

The second, Darkness Within: The Dark Lineage, is also pretty good although it took a turn similar to what happened with Lost Souls in regards to The Journal and Lights Out, the horror is a tad more in your face.

Amber: Journeys Beyond
A true overlooked gem. I always wondered if Jonathan Boakes was inspired by Amber in regards to the gadgets in his games ;)

The story basically consists of smaller 'ghost' stories that you'll have to resolve somehow in order to finish the game. All stories are sad, the last one is, well, quite tragic really.

Someone here was kind enough to point me to a patch (actually it's an installer but the end result it's the same) that gets Amber running on modern OS's. It worked like a charm for me, i played Amber once again on Win7 which was amazing since i never even got it to run properly on XP.

Definitely see about getting Amber.

John Saul's Blackstone Chronicles
I loved this one, terror done right, lots of mind games inside an asylum.

Amerzone : The Exploere's Legacy (right here on gog)
It's a Myst clone but it's one of the good ones, nice story, beautiful settings.

Bracken Tor
Asylum

Both yet unreleased but go ahead and start tracking them.

Edit: Blackstone, not Blackwell ;)

Edit 2: The Explorer's Legacy, not the Legacy's Explorer

Jesus, i need a break from work, my brain is turning to mush :|

Thanks for all the info, guys! Yeah, I forgot to mention I don't like gore since when I think Adventure games I tend to accidently think of really non violent ones like Myst. But I will look into all of these. I think the reason its hard to find so many of these titles is that they're probably the genre with the least advertisement when they are released.

Trust me when I say that you don't even want to look into Amnesia, then.

Holy crap, I had no idea they'd made a game out of the Death Gate Cycle books!

The Shannara one is way less compelling than any of Terry Brooks' novels, but still a fun story.
Darkness Within: In Pursuit of Loath Nolder.

Dracula: Resurrection was also a guilty pleasure for me.

The Dracula games are fucking terrible but something about them makes you keep playing. The atmosphere I guess.

Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened, Nemesis and Vs. Jack the Ripper are all first-person adventure games which are excellent. I don't think the gore is too bad in them, it's more psychological horror at times and creepy atmosphere sometimes. They're classics IMO, especially The Awakened.

Nikopol looks cool and is on my list to play here soon, though I have not done so yet.
Not normally into those but these stood out to me so I got them.
