It's not mockery :D. I used to do the same thing, guess at which game was coming for a certain occasion. I can't guess anymore for obvious reasons but I still like to haunt these threads :D

Would be nice to see the No One lives Forever serie appearing on GOG for the 500th release, something like a bundle "No One Lives Forever 1 + 2" with extras like the soundtracks, pretty wallpapers, manuals, etc.

Ghorpm: But I'm still slightly concerned. Take any other RPG game from that era, like Might and Magic 1 and 2. And take anybody born 20 years ago. Can he actually enjoy those games? There must be some people like that, sure, but vast majority would just say WTF?! So it would be anticlimactic for them...
I see your point and I guess you are right. As I wrote those early cRPGs are a bit overaged even for me and I'm older than 20. Still we have a 'specific' crowd here so...:-)

But I have another candidate for 500th release and it is PERFECT.:

It would be nice if it is celebrated by a legendary title, but I'll keep my hopes low.

Although I am pretty sure we've had #500 already. Games are being removed, aren't they?

i figure game #500 is probably an overdue one that GOG has held back for the occasion, like Privateer 2.

Maybe game number 500 will already be from a new publisher? If it's LucasArts I would take a guess that it's going to be Maniac Mansion: Day of the Tentacle or X-Wing Gold. I know that Grim Fandango is a community favorite but somehow I think they might be saving this one for release in conjunction with a press conference/event.

But even if it's not from a new publisher there are so many still unreleased games out there. Maybe Strike Commander?

Most of us have been thinking of a "classic" game for #500 up to now, but who knows, maybe it's going to be a new indie release?
