227: The Kindle Fire is great in a lot of ways. For example, a few months back, Amazon gave out "coins" (which function like money on the Amazon app store) for free to Kindle Fire users. However, you have to sideload apps that aren't on Amazon's app store—which can be a lot of them—and it can be a pain.
Another thing to consider is that apps can have viruses and spyware-type things, though this seems to be a danger on most mobile devices. On top of that, there simply aren't very many good games out there. It's a problem I've had with iOS, too; there are so many derivative, cutesy arcade games aimed at either young children or those lacking any kind of experience with more traditional gaming that most of what you'll find will be eye roll-worthy or rage-inducing. Tablets are great for watching streaming movies, though. You have to love the portability.
The Playstation 3 is also great in a lot of ways. There are some really worthwhile games released for it, and it can also stream movies (sans the portability). However, it has a lot of annoying elements like mandatory installs before you can play games, and it can tend to randomly stop working. Recently, mine has decided to completely stop recognizing discs. That kind of thing is probably pretty rare, but it can definitely happen, and it's not the first time I've had some kind of problem with it.
So both are great and terrible in their own ways. If you want to play games primarily, I'd go with the PS3. If streaming movies is more your style, then I'd go with a Kindle Fire or other tablet that'd allow you to stream movies while you're sprawled out in bed. If you're not sure exactly what you're looking for, then you should probably just save your money and wait for something awesome that you
must have to come along.
I may wait as well, depends on how much I have left after the laptop and thanks for the descriptive response. response
