Gazoinks: Don't you need both hands for playing?
avatar
tinyE: I didn't mean that as means of starting a technical conversation but there are a lot of great games out there you can play with one hand. Freelancer, KOTOR 1 & 2, AOE ALL, C&C ALL, pretty much any adventure game, card games, checkers, chess, Diablo 1&2, Titan Quest, Sacred, Blitzkrieg 1&2, Sims, Sim City...I could go on.

That's not a game. For me it's actually a career. Ever since I moved back in with my folks by room has been known as "The House of Whacks".
Chyeah, not something I'd be thrilled to share, dude.

Stare at the bar while it is downloading, slowly losing your mind when the speed goes slower, and slower, and slower, and slower until it eventually stops because of a lost connection.

Luisfius: Downloading overnight is a good idea.
I wish, but my browser will only download so many files at once and GOG's downloader is not very autonomous and needs to be micromanaged.

For small games, I tend to line them up in the downloader.

For larger games, I download them a handful of files at a time using the browser and do something else while they download.

If I was more industrious, I'd probably try to reverse-engineer the protocol and make my own script like some other folks have done or lookup their tools though my understanding is that they tend to deprecate pretty quickly.

¡Ay, caramba!
Play with your girlfriend's boobs.
I quite often play something else in the meantime, as long as it is not a multiplayer game that needs internet connection too. Except when I download GOG games at work (as it is faster here).

Not sure about Steam games though, is it so that Steam downloads get paused automatically if you launch any Steam game? Not sure.

Yes, they get suspended. But if you alt-tab out, pause them and resume them, you can continue downloading while you still play (or idle for cards).
