What country do I tell my bank to allow transactions on GOG?

I can't find it on the website, nor could I find a forum post about it. I used to be able to do it through paypal without a problem, but magically I could not when it came to Legend of Grimrock. I'm part of a credit union and they won't just allow international transactions. It's all very annoying. But, thanks for the help.

Transactions are handled in Cyprus.

it is weird how credit system works in different country. i have australian and polish CC and never had anytroubles using them either on steam, d2d or gog or ebay.

Well, there are many banks in the US that do not have this restriction. I am part of a Federal Credit Union, which is not a corporate bank. It tends to be more secure than a normal corporate bank and they are a lot more Solvent than a corporate bank. For instance, with my FCU, they do not lend out more than they have in savings at any particular branch. All that aside, they reason they do it is to protect the customers, it's just annoying trying to keep a log of what company is where when you order a lot of things internationally. I ordered a few things directly through a Chinese company (the TRX suspension training system), while I got a much better price, I had to jump through hoops to make that happen as well.

I used to have this problem on GOG, then a buddy of mine told me to go through PayPal and it wouldn't happen. And he was right, until just recently apparently.

Can you put money into your Paypal account first then use those funds to buy the game ?

I remember reading somewhere that just a quarter of Americans actually had a passport, and unlike us in Europe, where we don't need passports to move between most countries (the UK being a notable exception, and even there I can get away with using my ID card), US citizens can't actually leave or reenter the country without one.

That's not a fair comparison, considering the size difference. It is more meaningful to compare US (as a country) to e.g. EU zone. Ok, US has the benefit of one main language when you move from state to state...

Anyways, my Visa nor Mastercard work on DotEmu for some reason, but fortunately the Paypal option there works (with the same credit cards). I have no idea why that is, and the same CCs work in all other online shops, including GOG.

I've run into this problem as well. My bank will not let me buy games from GoG because they deem Cyprus as a country with fraudulent tendencies or some crap like that. Obviously, PayPal is one solution, but the one I'm going to use the solution of switching banks. I choose not to support institutions that blanket block entire countries based on stereotypes.
