I had the urge a couple of years ago to play Castles 2 (I only ever owned the original Castles game), so I searched for it on Google and came across this site, where I bought it straight away. The fact that it was so easy to download and play kept me coming back for more and needless to say, I am now a certified GOG addict.
Playing the original Fallout games again. I played and owned them when they came out but sold them during my great video game purge of 2002. Being able to play Fallout and Fallout 2 again for $6 a piece was epic win.

Since then I have gone back and acquired the original big boxes of both Fallout and Fallout 2 though, because I am that insane.
an article in PC gameplay and actually checking it out
they had good games so i still stick around :)
One day i was looking to purchase arcanum, Then i thought "Hey i now have a paypal account i can download it from steam!!!11 " But nope not there...

After searching through numerous sites i landed in the arcanum forum section on here and i was like >.>

Clicked on the top and it was starring me right in the face like a new release

/instabuy

And i just get 9/10 of my singleplayer games from here now owning 60 games and counting :D
Strangely, I don't even remember how I got here even though I joined less than two months ago. I think I was probably led here by a Joystiq article since they sometimes report on GOG's new releases. First game I bought was the Space Quest collection.
An article in Retro Gamer many, many moons ago.
I found out about GOG quite a while ago (I think it was a forum post on a Russian website dedicated to Classic games) before I actually registered and have been lurking on the site for quite some time (even if rarely) however the relaunch, going out of beta, getting Baldur's gate and the very tempting September "Community Favourites" promo with everything 50% off Finally convinced me to join

The first games that I bought here were some of the games in the promo: Duke 3D, Incredible Machine pack, etc

In conclusion: I'm happy with my time that I have spent here so far and I hope GOG can keep on bringing classic games to me and many other gamers

Let's just hope they add some features that many members have been asking for a long time in the near future
First time I read about GOG in Polish newspaper (website edition, of course). I didn't want to spend my money, so I didn't join. But when they offered Tex Murphy as a Christmas gift, I decided that I should get it while it's free.

Then they made a promo with The Incredible Machine, and then they made other promos, and that's my story. I'm a GOG addict, and proud of it.

I think i read some info on a videogame magazine website, well before the service started (according to my profile i registered here 937 days ago... wow).
At the time there was ony a teaser homepage announcing the forthcoming beta, with a few screenshot of the first games soon available... i saw Freespace 1&2 and registered right away!
I think it may have been an Kotaku article? Or PC Gamer? I don't remember :P

Glad I found it though! Best site ever.
I don't remember.

I was in the closed beta, but I have no idea how I found out about it. I wasn't reading RPS at the time, so I think I probably read about it in The Escapist.

I had my eye on it since it was just a landing page promising Fallout. What got me to sign up was Beneath A Steel Sky. I know it's free elsewhere, but it seemed like a good means to test how well the service worked without spending anything.
I know I lurked for quite some time before finally joining but I really can't remember what actually brought me here... I think maybe a link at Sorcerer's Place but I really can't quite remember for the life of me. :P
I don't actually remember how I signed up for the closed beta. Must have been an advert somewhere I guess. Anyway bought Fallout 1, 2, Tactics and some other game in the 2 for 1 deal and remained here ever since.
That stupid closing down prank.
I was talking about how terrible that was with a friend of mine and he mentioned that GOG had Outcast, so I immediately went and got that.
I'd heard of it before then, but it just never really got my attention.
