1-Party based create character (Ex: Baldurs Gate, PS: Torment, Avadon, Geneforge, Dragon Age)

2-Oldschool Create a party rpg (Ex: Icewind Dale, TOEE, Avernum, Grimrock, etc.)

3-Create character rpg- (Divine Divinity, Eschalon Series, The Quest, Ultima)

4-Roleplay Party (Krondor Series, Legacy)

I think I covered it mostly. Party based create a characters are usually your most popular and are one of my favorites to play. I also like playing a cool create a party rpg as its always fun and different to go through a game with a different style/type of party. Thats just me of course.

Im sure that all of you like different types of rpgs. Id really like to hear what everyone else thinks is their favorite type of rpg.

I prefer playing as a single character to playing as a party, in almost every case. If I have the choice, I'll always play the lone wolf rather than a group of characters.
Thats always cool. I myself am a big fan of the games I listed as solo character rpgs.
"Mai'q prefers to adventure alone, others just get in the way and they talk, talk, talk..."
First-person, turn-based, full party creation.

My favorites? Probably Wizardry 6+7.
I love the one where I break out the tool belt and work boots, and my girlfriend pretend-calls a plumber to fix her "leaky pipes" and....oh, oh wait a second...let's uhh, let's go with Fallout.
Mostly single characted RPG, but it's really on a one-by-one basis, so i liked equally Avadon, Grimrock, Drakesang and so on.
My biggest problem is with the games using D&D rules, so while I really tried hard to like them, sadly i've never enjoyed BG & company....
Wasteland, hands down.
I enjoy what Fallout has... Companions that act on their own..
I usually like 3rd person, single player with character creation and interactive companions like in KotOR, NWN, DA, ME, etc. best.

Isometric, party based, create only main character
Baldurs gate but use the multiplayer thing to create a party of 6 mages :-)

6 fireballs = WoMD
Gotta go with number 1 on this, and BG2 in particular.

I would rather have a party, but if I created the entire party myself like in Icewind Dale there's no real interaction between the members. I end up feeling like I am controlling 6 sulking warriors, wandering around slaying monsters while refusing to speak to each other.

I can totally sympathize with that. I liked Avernum and Geneforge because it didnt have all that-you can use this armor but since your this class, you cant wield this weapon or this item.
All of them. I guess it doesn't matter that much to me if it's well done. I like to create my own characters and party and customize them, but I also like it when my character already has a fixed story I can discover, provided it's a good one. As I love RPG with an immersive story, one would think that option 1 or 3 would be more suitable for that. But then again I had more fun playing through Icewind Dale with my own party than playing through Baldur's Gate, for example. So I don't really care as long as I've either got some choice and customisation options or the character or party I have to stick with is interesting enough.
