The topic says most of it. What game boxes have been your favorites over the years? It can be because of box art being great but it doesn't necessarily need to be all the graphics. Maybe the PR descriptions are fun to read(for whatever reason) or looking at the box gets you pumped to play it.

Two of my favorites are the X-Wing Collectors CD and Tie Fighters Collectors CD boxes.

Tie Fighter: http://www.mobygames.com/game/star-wars-tie-fighter-collectors-cd-rom/cover-art

So what are your favorites (Doesn't need to be computer only)?
I have a few that I remember fondly.

Morrowind, Legend of Zelda Ocrina of Time, Star War Rogue Squadron (64), Banjo Kazooie (64), Star Wars Shadow of the Empire (for the 64), the Combat Mission Beyond Overlord, Barbarossa to Berlin, and Afrika Korps. Others are Rogue Galaxy, Valkryia Chronicles 2, James Bond Goldeneye 007, Planetside, and Halo.

All those games I've played and most are my favorites of all time. Each has some great memories attached to them and I'd by them in a heartbeat if I ever found them completely intact.
the original sideways big box for the first fallout, might have stamped sold on it the moment I saw it.

though truth be told I was sold within 10 seconds of the demo, and that was 6 months before the game shipped.

Privater 2 had a pretty good box too.
The over sized Might and Magic 4 and 5

Nothing recent except for The Witcher 2 Collectors Edition
My favourite one that I can think of must be Painkiller Black Edition. It's not that special. It's black. With white "Painkiller Black Edition" on it and small logos for rating and developer. And then a dark grey picture you need good lighting to even notice.
What made it more special is opening the box, the inside is black. With a black manual (white title and Cd-key are). And the disc itself is black with black text, readable because it's slightly raised and reflect the light a little bit differently.
My favorite boxes would be:
Double Dragon 2
Super Castlevania IV
Doom

And that nes zelda cartridge, because it was golden.

And first time attaching something.

Edit: Also Crysis 1 and 2 have cool covers. And Metal gear solid and Final Fantasy VII for psx, boxes were simple but thick and those cd:s were full of gaming goodness.

The X-Blades box is very nice (at least something, because the game was not that good...).
Inside there's a manual, strategy guide, poster/calendar and the game itself of course.
Deluxe box style I really love the original Fallout. Smooth cardboard feel, cool nuclear survival kit stuff on the back, iconic cover, cool fold-out advertising and inside a great manual. Morrowind Collector's Edition also has a lovely thick black box. For newer stuff I would say GTA4 and The Witcher 2 both have more deluxe covers and boxes than most recent games. Pop-out Geralt is a treat.

Just purely looking at cover art I would say the original Mass Effect is great. Very iconic cover that screams sci-fi epic and has the 70's/80's design sensibility. The original Deus Ex cover is very iconic with JC looking up at the sky and the cyberpunk city in the background. The original FEAR has a cool cover... I have the "director's edition" which has a neat fold-out box, but I am speaking of the normal cover art.
Ultima 7, 7 part 2 and 8 were all classy in their own ways.
Loved ALL the Gold Box boxes and all the Infinity Engine game boxes as well.
I like everything which has a sort of hologram. ^^
The old sturdy boxes used for 8-bit/16-bit games in the UK. For example, the Amstrad CPC versions of Laser Squad or Batman (based on the 1989 movie). Those boxes were large enough to fit two cassettes in them - with a plastic insert or a bunch of 3.5 inch discs, while also fitting rather nicely on shelves or in drawers. They were just a perfect size. Nothing else has ever been as good as those =(
I like my Diablo box, all black with something lurking from the dark. Says almost all about the game.

From recent games there is nothing worth mentioning because there are no boxes any more.
Starcraft 2 maybe, it had an interesting slip, that opens a big battle scene inside, for a dvd box.
Looked around covers.. And they do change a lot depending what region they are released on. At least console games did.
Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition - the one where the colours are all metallic and shiny.
Deus Ex also has a very nice looking box, with the title text standing out in bumped up relief.

And Falcon 4.0 has the most hilarious "box" ever - a binder that contains hundreds of pages of notes on how to play the game. The manual is the box lol.
